Even the PK990 was 1500 when it was released and that is 2D, this is a slim 3D

This TV has just got a 5 star test winner review on what hifi magazines the best of the 3d tv's in the market. Shame it hasn't got a 5 yr warranty, but excellent price. Sorry just went to site and notice it does have a 5 yr warranty. NiceX)

amazing price, I hear plasmas are best with large screen sizes such as this model. I wish I had the money to buy it... :(
#11
Just bought the sammie 50'' from currys! Damn!

I recently bought the Panasonic 50VT20
Considering returning that and getting this, would save quite alot of cash.
Need to do abit more research on this TV but has awesome spec for cash.

Anyone bought this? What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Just read this on the AVforums review

Gaming Performance

Unlike most of the plasmas I have tested the LG models tend to have rather high input lags and the PX990 is no exception. In THX mode the input lag measured at 80ms although in Game mode it fell to 40ms which is fine for me but probably a bit slow for hardened gamers. Using Game mode combined with the 2D to 3D conversion feature the input lag increased to 90ms so anyone thinking of playing 2D games this way should be aware of the additional lag.

My TV is used as a gaming TV so will pass, the 50VT20 is b 10ms (2d & 3d).

Although I believe that this is a great price for this TV and I have voted hot; your statement in bold is simply wrong. The Panasonic 3D TVs, VT20 and VT25 are THX Certified and they were officially released before this TV.

Wow lots of people voting cold, the trolls are lurking.
#22
Can Currys price match this? This is really a good price. I just don't know this shop at all.
#23
Cold for me because of retailer sorry. I bought my 36" crt from them with free 5 year warranty. The warranty never arrived and they refused to honour it. Their response .... take us to court.
#24
Voted hot before I knew about the rep of the retailer, still a hot deal for me but might see if I can get someone to price match instead.
#25
If this had come with another pair of glass's and sold by a more trusted retailer I think I would have purchased it..... still voted hot though as its a cracking deal as it is, just not enough for me to justify the spend.
#26
I am really tempted.
Comet are doing this at £989 plus £20 delivery and considering getting Currys to price match that (they have it for £1199) and with the extra 10% could bring it down around £970.
#27
Is that specific to certain comet stores as I cant find it on the website.
#28
Becuase its not on comet's web site, the model showing on comet is the 50pk990 not the 50px990 as advertised here
#29
sorry double post

this tv is getting ripped to shreds by owners over on the avforums ... personally if I was going to be purchasing a 3d televsion I would be waiting a wee while until they start ironing out all the problems - might take a couple of generations.

My apologies for my misleading post #26, I obviously mixed up the model numbers.
#35
So did anyone get it? Opinions?

Thanks

If you check the Panasonic Website, you will see that both these sets are THX. A TV cannot bear the THX logo without being certified and registered with THX. Since the VT20 and VT25 were announced and released before the LGPX990, I would say LG are stretching the truth a bit and CNET are simply wrong repeating the 'misinformation'.
