Your post doesn't say what size the monitor is. I'm guessing that it's 23" but it would help if had that information in the on the main description or early in the extended description.:)

Can this be used on a PS3 for 3D gaming or is it a PC only thing?
#4
PC only and you will need a decent graphics card and the Nvidia Vision kit (costs about £110). Monitor should work on PS3 but not in 3d

Just to add to Mike's comment, the reason is that this is a monitor which will need you to connect via the Dual Link interface rather than a simple HDMI v1.4 connection. This differs from a normal 3D TV in that it won't support 3D playback over HDMI and relies on Dual Link DVI, hooked up to a graphics card.

It's worth noting that to get the best out of this monitor, even if you're not interested in 3D, you'll need a Dual Link DVI compatible graphics card to get the 120Hz refresh rate (apparently).

So, has anybody here actually played 3D PC games?
I know there are reviews, but I'd rather hear what it's like from a regular user.

I've been on the fence for ages on this, so want to decide whether to bother or not.

Just to note the image quiality on these sreens is average at best and if you don't need 3D you can get something much better quality for the same price. If you play online FPS games and don't care too much about accurate colour reproduction get it though, the 120Hz really helps eliminate motion blur.

I too was on the fence and decided to buy one a couple of months ago, I bought the Acer 24" with Nvidia kit instead though. It is amazing, much better than I thought it would be, the picture is really clear and the 3d effect is great. Some games work better than others, but I found Dead Rising 2 & Just Cause 2 to be the most impressive.

If your on the fence buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I've previewed both of these screens side by side. The Acer won in terms of better colours and sharper screen but the LG seemed to have more depth to the 3D.

Surely the depth is controlled by the Nvidia Control panel in its proprietory software and not dependent on the 120hz TN panel

i just added more info,thanks :)

btw great monitor for gamers, makes a huge difference when playing your usual games in 2D & image quality is superb, miles better than my last Benq G2420HDB.

it's a great monitor , and when a game has been coded for 3d it looks amazing, as people have said much better than expected. Although you do spend more time spinning your character around to check out the 3d effect rather than playing the games but that could just be me :)

By getting this monitor ive saved money as i no longer want to upgrade my lounge tv as 3d seems to be better in games than films, or at least the films ive watched.

For the price you can't get better.

The brightness/contrast/colours have an effect on 3D (which is why people think 3D gaming looks better than movies)

Bit of a nightmare getting decent fps I've heard. Really hits your fps hard. Actually, I think I'm thinking about eyefinity, not 3D. Anyone actually benchmarked 3d vs non? I suppose I should check google but I just can't be bothered :OI

frame rate drops depend on the game, and your gfx card which i know sounds like stating the obvious :)

some of the games i play like crysis 2 or ffxiv are capped at 60fps in 2d, and in 3d they seem to run just the same. But other things like stone giant demo the fps drops right down to a noticable degree but then the heaven benchmark seems fine 2d/3d

Sites like anandtech or 3dguru will probably have some better info

Crysis 2's 3D is fake, hence the lack of any frame-rate loss.
Playing in 3D should half the current frame-rate, if not a tiny bit more than that - I can't comment for a mid end card (got a high end rig myself, don't notice any difference 3d/non-3d).
Is this good for crosstalk - ie, lack of it? Or is it better waiting for this years sets

No it doesn't half it, id say around a 30% drop. I have a single gtx 570 and can game in 3d at medium - high settings and still get 40 fps plus in most games at 1920 x 1080.

I needed a new monitor and gave up waiting for the new samsung's to be released

I dont notice any cross talk in FFXIV, but this is the first 3d equipment ive owned so i can't say whether it's any better or worse than other models out there or whether this year's sets will be any better.

The way i see it with this monitor is, it's cheap, it does a great job and was much better than my old one. And when something better comes out, this will either be a good spare, or will go on ebay and as i like to keep everything in as new condition ill probably get most of what i paid back for it towards any new monitor that comes out.

Ordered off eBay for £170. There's a Taiwanese-based listing for the 3d kit for £80 on ebay, feedback is good so i took a punt. if it all works out well, I'll have the monitor and glasses for £250. Nice.

Mine arrived, works well and 3D is great!
