The only concern I have with this netbook is you are limited to a maximum amount of 1GB worth of physical memory - Crucial UK shows that information on their website.

Computer memory upgrades for LG Electronics X110 Netbook from Crucial.com
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=X110

However if you can live with that, then this is a good deal to go for in terms of a cheap netbook deal especially as the Tesco Acer Aspire One deal has dried up.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Cracking deal .... but from a cracked company given that Zavvi have gone bust, so worthless guarantee would be my concern
#6
I think this is the best value netbook on the market with Windows XP installed.

Most of the other cheaper deals posted previously had Linux pre-installed.

Manufacturer should cover the warrant shouldn't they?

Also, buy on your credit card for Section 75 protection.

Not sure what has happened to Zavvi but says under new management on the website so maybe got partly taken over.

The name was bought - it is a different company all together.

Netbooks are useless unless you enjoy constant scrolling IMO.

Pay £100 more and buy a decent spec laptop.
#10
Great deal, dont worry about the 3 cell battery as you can get 6 cell ones for 24 quid dell on ebay.

but these are netbooks not laptops

there great for what there designed for, you can just sling them around where ever you want and 1024 x 600 res is not as bad as your making out.

It's a different company now - The Hut bought the name so no problem with the guarantee:

Looks like it's been removed, so probably sold out. I bought one myself at this price a couple of weeks ago, so it looks like they go in and out of stock. May be worth keeping an eye on the netbook page at the Zavvi site.

agree with you totally!

netbooks are so much hard work, squinty eyes, endless scrolling. better sticking to a laptop

Why would you waste £100 more for a larger more bulky laptop if you don't need to.. By that token get a smart phone does all the PC does and can be gotten for near enough nothing. Sorry but saying netbooks are too much work is like saying that having some chips is pointless as for a quid more you can have a fish and chips dinner but if all you want is a snack the chips are ideal.

If you have a use for a machine then get it. I myself own 4 laptops, 3 full size and 1 netbook, which was incidentally purchased for ease of use in hotels or the car when tethered to my phone for internet. Also useful when out and about to just upload pictures from my camera when it is time for some grub.

If a person is buying a netbook as a first computer then the point is valid of "too much like hard work" but for basic usage from day to day, or sitting on the sofa typing a few emails watching some rubbish they are ideal.

So to be honest I cant agree less. Oh and this post was made on a laptop, not a netbook. :p

Funny that cause I always thought Zavvi was a dumb name. I remember when I first saw adverts for Zavvi in the papers I wondered who this company was and then found out they had previously been Virgin Megastores.

Bit like Pizza Hut wanting to be Pasta Hut. I think that backfired on them as I don't think they are rolling out the name change. Also, do remember Royal Mail becoming Consignor or something like that?

Good deal!

I have been using an Advent 4211 for a year now and on the whole its been a nice lil netbook, but for a 'main' computer its not advisable as the res is low, there is endless scrolling and it takes a while to get used to the 'smallness'.

I recently dropped it so now the screen is all cracked and PCWorld want £235 to replace the 10inch screen!!!!
So i'm looking for a laptop now.

Seems to be available again. Perhaps mods could unexpire this, please?

The Haters are generalising again ! You do not have the imagination to identify with another persons needs. Go away and leave the carers and the sharers in peace.

Well said.

Netbooks are starting to blur the line to laptops as they get bigger and more powerful. I mean originally, the idea of a Netbook was to use cloud apps and nothing much more. These netbooks around today are actually quite powerful and you can do an awful lot with them.

So really with todays Netbooks it comes down to size and everything else stacks on top of that in order of importance. My sister wants one so she can pop it in her handbag and take it with her (so smaller the better). Her husband wants a laptop thats basically a desktop replacement (bigger the better). I'd like a Netbook with as full sized keyboard as possible because that's important to me but I already have powerful PC's I can do heavy work on. Being able to slip one of these in a bag with a camera. That's a day of major geek out fun for me.

This new wave of 10" Netbooks are eminently usable for browsing (and that's a world of uses within itself there), writing, watching video, handling pictures, playing movies, playing casual or older games. How anyone could dismiss them and claim to know what they are talking about is beyond me.

Surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion especially if they have actually owned a netbook?

The Atom CPU does a pretty good job though it does struggle from time to time if you have a few apps open, but if you wanna just take your netbook around town etc. then its perfect, and at 1kilo I didnt find it heavy at all!

Cheers.

ordered one... cheers :)
