LG XD2 500GB Portable Hard Drive USB2.0 8MB Cache - Retail @ £59.99 inc vat & del @ Ebuyer

£59.99 @ Ebuyer
Just found this offer. I believe it's better than the previous £59.99 one as it uses a Hitachi drive inside from the review I read below: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/06/24/review_external_hd…

Please note, this is a portable 2.5" one, don't confuse it with the 3.5" desktop one which needs external power supply.

The LG range of portable hard drives come complete with anti-shock protection as standard and an aluminium high gloss case for both optimal cooling and cool design.

Backup Program
Anti shock with internal suspension
Aluminum surface for cooling
Hi-glossy design
2 years warranty

Direct link added.

Price is increased to 59.99 now!!

I ordered one, just wanting to remove the internal drive and replace the old one in my laptop. The internal Hitachi drive costs more than 60 pounds alone.

Some of these 2.5" external drives especially the ones in the thicker cases are 12mm, your laptop probably takes a 9mm drive.

That's a great price, just spent £66 on a new PS3 500gb drive - £57.70 is excellent, can anyone confirm the height and compatibility with the PS3 for this drive?

It winds some people up when the OP asks that question and it's best to ignore the haters; life's too short to worry about saddos.

Ordered one for parents and left heat and rep. Thanks.

Yes it is, making it the cheapest 500GB drive for the PS3.
The actual drive in my one was a Hitachi HTS545050B9A300

With regards to the warranty, if it dies couldn't you just just stick it back in the case and return to LG etc?

Case is really easy to open, no screws or warranty seals etc. just pries apart.

Another one - (probably better as there is a saving of 24.39 quid on this one !!)

Yes you can do that but that will only cover you for 12 months! When you but 2.5" HD's on their own you always get between 3-5 years warranty instead!!
