Folks, Not normally a Lidl shopper (not snobbiness, merely location & accessibility)

However this fan is very similar to my premi-air, almost the same bar the ground stand, same wattage at 170 watts on full blast.

I recommend trying this before they're snapped up as ours (which we wall mounted by adaptation) cools through the core of our house (down the stone corridor) on full it makes some noise, however in the suffering sweltering heat it works a treat! ..the price is not to be sniffed at, ours was around £50 years ago!

Why a fan? ,well in terms of Assisted cooling, they're the cheapest way to go.
Blades of this size on this wattage machine (we nickmame ours "the tigermoth" due to it's prop size!

seriously suggest folk try this out, you could get far smaller for more money! ..the wife only lets me stick this on full if she's not around, or in another room & allows the flow-through to get to her by means of draught.

Get em while they're hot...(sic) you know how fans suddenly go out of stock in summer, it's big,it can be noisy on max speed, but it's got the capacity to make a difference.

..it's a blast I wouldn't be without!

These provide the air movement we all crave on those sweaty stuck to the sofa days!

It's a blow job.

Had one of these behind the bar i used to work at. a god send and great price. heat added.

A tip I learned with these larger fans is to try aiming them out of an open window. That has the effect of drawing cool air in from outside through other windows/doors and cooling a much larger space - draft-free. Works really well on hot, muggy nights

£24.99 or less in Focus , worth having a look if you have one nearby

Could you use this at a camp site? ie would the tent 'Hook Up' be ok to run one? I ask because we're considering getting a tent but we called to a tent retailer the other day where they had the tents outside.... they were sweltering inside!

What's the wattage Deanos? I've seen a good few large fans that only have around 110-120 watts, based on the performance of my own 170 watt unit I don't think lesseer wattages at this size scoop & deliver anything like enough air...

Blasphemous, what is your on site electric hook up, one of these on full would blast a lot of air into a tent...probably too much!

If you are serious look at Prem-i-air as an alternate brand all ours have stood the test of time & we have taken ours outdoors for breeze on a hot day ((DRY)) ..however I dread to think how this'd blaze a tent, ..more a wind tunnel.

Thanks for the reply Mr Gus. I am serious, the tents we stepped into were like ovens inside! I've had a quick look for that brand you posted. Is this the one you mean: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Prem-I-Air-18-45CM-Air-Circulator/dp/B000RPITLA/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1308080865&sr=1-11

It's a bit steep compared to the one in the op.

yup that's the fella, if it's not 170w on the back then it's a smaller model, ...this is exactly why I state the Lidl unit to be such a good deal, on full flow this would be noisy, however for simply blowing the heat out, a large powerful fan could do it easily on a 240v mains supply.
The reason i picked up on it is because to all intents & purposes I reckin it's a re-badge, prem-i-air arent cheap (If you have a John Lewis around they'll probably have them in store any day now)

The difference of 5 yrs since we got ours is that the speed mechanism has changed for a cheaper unit which i see on various styles nowadays compared to ours which are on a rotary knob, which are pricier, asides from that I'd guess the fan scoops (aluminium, therefore less flex than plastic), & the internal windings will be the same.
So definitely worth a punt at £29.99.
if it's not up to par you have a comparison, though I reckon this should do the job if its a re-badge.

I picked up a similar fan off Ebay for £18.50 delivered (second hand though) and it is rated at... 250W on maximum! I'm a little scared by it :D

Anyway, this is a good deal so +heat :)

Blasphemous, beyond this sort of size you would be looking at "drum" size fans of 250 -375 watts but they sound like planes taxi-ing, this size is storeable, luggable, (we wall mount then store in the garage out of season) the drum size units are deemed commercial size!

Thanks for that mate. Might get one of these then.
