LIDL : CRIVIT SPORTS Lightweight Rucksack £8.99

bought a couple of these a few years ago, cheaper via another store (aldi) these are slightly updated to breathe easier..

However, at £8.99 i'd wait & circle to see if they drop in price to around the £3.00 mark as they make excellent kids day hiking sacks.

My kid has been using one since she was in beavers, now cubs, & for school day trips, we often just remove the bladder.
The low profile works really well, comfy harness that is infinitely adjustable, hang strap, easily accomadates a 600ml sigg bottle or similar.

Probably worth checking out in the pocket as to whether it has a wet weather cover sewn in,

A lot less bother than that damn spongebob bag with poor shoulder straps that you will end up carrying, & cursing,
This is low profile enough to strap to your own pack if your kid overheats, but mine has worn this without complaint & takes it to camp with her.

Just a thought.

If you click the link = larger picture.

These deals typically come with a bladder (which will be around the 2 litre mark as I recall, but if you have a kid remove the bladder as they are typically a bit rubbish at using one when young.

NOTE THE BOTTOM ZIPPED POCKET? ..I anticipate this will have the sewn in weather cover, which is easy to use but hasn't been put on the spec, so please check if this is important to you.

Padded back with air circulation system
With practical sectioned compartments, water bottle pocket and helmet holder
Capacity (L): 6.5
Weight approx. (g): 370

I bought one of these a few years ago for cycling, the build quality is horrible and it's falling apart in multiple places.

Same here, the handle at the top pulled off on day 1 and the seams are coming apart elsewhere too now. Used it 3 times

I find the quality has gone right downhill on Lidl & Aldi specials now...... they're now basically an outlet for cheap & nasty Chinese made tat.

I ran home for years with a multiple fastening rucksack carrying my work clothes. One day I unclicked the buckles and, lo and behold, it made no difference! All the straps were doing was creating bobbles on my tops.

I know what you mean kramer, but for a nipper it helps draw the shoulders together, creating better balance.

& for my own large on mountain bag it does make a difference to general comfort, but that is a crammed bag with shovel & rescue kit within, compared to my one previous, without the chest harness, when you are barreling forward in a roll or jump you really want it to stay put, that is when it works well I find.
( jump tuck roll jump with 3 peoples kit over a crevasse to avoid going in for instance) ;)
