British Beef Mince 500g £1.29 seems unusually cheap.

What is it? 50% fat content with ground up hooves, skin and cattle ears?

Makes the best burgers ever if you crumble an oxo cube in it. 20 percent fat which is exactly what you need for good burgers.

You can spend twice as much on mince in Tesco if you like and get far worse.

But what's in it though? It's difficult to believe that you'll get good cuts for £1.29

20% fat, this isn't the regular price, it could well be a loss-leader like many of Lidl's offers, and that's a 5 year old video about american ground beef...

You clearly aren't aware that mince beef in the UK had such a high percentage of non-meat content such as gristle, collagen, ligaments and connective tissue, that the UK Government had to the lobby the EU for an exemption as it was unable to meet guidelines for meat content.

"The Government says that Britain has so much collagen in its mince meat that it would be in breach of the EU limits."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinknews/9845985/Supermarkets-can-sell-mince-with-50-fat-and-collagen.html

"In budget mince, the levels of gristle are often so high that they exceed EU guidelines. The product can only be sold here after the industry successfully lobbied for a special UK exemption.

And as for your reference to "20% fat", most products sold meet that requirement.

Aubergine at 49p is an usual price. Even Jumbo king prawns are now being sold for £3.09 for 225g (frozen) - so pretty much the same price for 400g. Brioche rolls have increased to £1.19 but still at 99p at Aldi. Lidl prices are creeping up.

I Agree the prices are slowly going up on some products compared to this time last year.

Welcome to Brexit Britain. Everything is going to be more expensive and prices are only going to keep going up. Well done to those who voted for everything to be lower quality and more expensive. Yummy gristle.

I don't think Lidl is really alone in raising prices - its pretty obvious that prices have been pushed up in recent weeks in Tesco and Sainsburys (I don't shop so much in the others so not sure on those).

If Aldi has held its prices until now kudos to them, but I doubt that will be the case for much longer.
#22
The point I was making is that most offers (Weekly/Weekend) in Lidl are not really good enough. In most cases, you can buy these cheaper elsewhere. Lidl normally creeps up prices of certain produce before the weekly offer to show savings. I had been using Lidl for most of my shopping but realising it is time to switch to Aldi.
#23
My Lidl did something a little strange earlier this year. The 100g chocolate bars went up to 39p (via silver tags, mainly used for the luxury products), then a short while after they returned back to 30p. Slightly irrelevant huh? The chocolates though haven't been reduced for ages and, while it's not something major, I am concerned about it. The cheese slices look good though so hopefully I'll remember to pop in for them.

Possibly, as I thought the Cimarosa South Africa Cabernet Sauvignon was only £3.99?
Still a few good deals though, especially the Emmental cheese slices.

Thank you OP.
