Just went shopping at my local Lidl and noticed this Digital Satellite receiver for £29.99-starting 1st Dec. I know it is not a Humax Foxsat....however for £30 not a bad deal. Good luck if you need one.

does this work on the same sattelite as sky?
i assume you have to buy a dish seperately?
I got one similar spec with a dish & fitting kit for same price at aldi bout 2 months back
I bought a satellite receiver AND dish for £24 from B&Q two months ago, so on this basis the Lidl deal is not a good offer. But in reality both the the B&Q and the Lidl satellite receivers are end of line - neither offer HD which is the standard nowadays

Strange having HDMI and its only SD

I think it will work with the same satellite setup but you will not get all of the channels you would with say Sky Freesat. This is because even some free channels need decoding and this unit appears to have no card for that.
Same as Generaloneill -will this work off a Sky dish that is already in situ and lined up on Astra2 ?

Yes. But you will only get the 'Free To Air' channels offered by this satellite, not the encrypted ones (eg Sky Sports)
I emailed Lidl on Tuesday asking if this was HD, they phoned me today saying they could not answer technical questions but gave me the suppliers phone number 02073650743 company called Targa I think. Anyway I phoned them and after listening to canned music for a couple of minutes the guy there said that it was High Definition......he however did not sound as though he really knew.
I have use the older silvercrest model for about 5 years, bought from Lidl for £19.99, to receive Uk and overseas programmes via a pair of dishes. It has proved excellent value.
Bought one of these from Lidl on 1st December 2011. Keeps telling me NO SIGNAL.........but I know I have a signal because I have a very old Force Sat Receiver and get stations on it on 13E and 19.02 E. Model number of this new Lidl product........manufactured by SSR576A1. Maybe I am unlucky and have a receiver with a faulty tuner........??
According to the instruction manual for SSR576A1 it is a Digital SD satellite receiver, not HD, try Medion for a cheap HD receiver. Suggest you return your box if it is HD you are after.

yes you can use it to get freesat hd you just dont get the epg in the same way
