I am fast coming to the belief that these offers are works of fiction. There is always an empty hole on the shelves or the freezer where the special offers were once upon a time by the time that I get there. Lidls advertise these deals and they fail to stock up for them. It's all a big marketing ploy to get you in. And disappoint, in my case.

Just ask a member of staff and they will get some more from the stock room, I've only had to ask twice mind you, both times I got what was on offer. You have to remember that Lidl's run on minimal staff and these offers are very popular so keeping them stocked up is one of many tasks that need doing throughout the day.

Vintage Reserve Cheddar Cheese 400g Pack £1.44

At last somewhere that will actually have cheddar in stock. Given the run around by Tesco this morning who specifically said they would be getting the Mature Cheddar £2.50 for 2x350g pack in this morning. Wasted journey :~(

£3.60/kg vs £3.57 at Tesco's. Anybody smell a cheesefight?

Lidls' are fairly homogenized. Tesco and Sainsbury stores vary greatly in stock and frequently stock up on the empty holes you describe.

In the unlikely event that I don't find something at one Lidl I can drive (often as little as 500m) down the road to the next, or they will ring around for me. I still have 2 of the 3 medium mature cheddars they had at this price last time they had a cheese offer.

WHAT! The supermarkets these days are so overrun with cheddar that there will soon be no other cheese available on the shelves. Even in the last few weeks, the great variety of reduced cheese on it's sell by date in Morrison's has been replaced by a collection of randomly named cheddars. The normal shelves in Tesco and Morrison's are both overrun with various other randomly named mature cheddars, often numbering over 20 different brands. Last week Tesco's pre-packed cheese shelf consisted of about 80% cheddar. Lidl is now following suit. The supermarkets are trying to flood us with cheddar, and most of it rubbish!

If you can't find any cheddar, you must have been to Michael Palin's cheese shop.

:D

Agreed about them all having huge swathes of yellow lumps but the best deal I saw last week was labelled cheddar but was in fact double Gloucester which I was unfamiliar with. Close to the magical £5/kg mark though. Nowhere has any reduced to clear, not for the past few weeks at any rate. Huge empty gaps where the cheap stuff once was.

I'm quietly hoping to turn my medium mature cheddar into proper mature within a couple of months.

Lol, it does say in the title 14th and 15th

Pork Loin Steaks are half price at £1.49 for 4. And 2 for £1.50 for the Italian Mixed Salad Bags. Like any store doing great deals you need to get yourself in gear and get there early or the stock will go.

They must have been and gone by the time I got there. As usual, no 99p mince. The freezer was completely emptied of mince. I knew they wouldn't have any. I wish they wouldn't advertise so much when they can't meet demand.
