No mention of Xvid/DivX so i'm guessing no. Shame

Good price for a bedroom DVD player, however the USB/Card Reader support on it is pretty much useless for anything more than one film on a card/stick supporting only 1GB.

Hope this helps.
To make the player REGION FREE

Region Code
Turn on dvd player
Open the tray
On the remote control key in 9999
Wait two seconds the key in 9
the final 9 will be displayed on the tv screen
Your DVD player is now region free.

Also works for KH 6519 & KH 6520 models.

Enjoy...

In fact, after reading the manual, its a pretty useless function full stop, player doesnt support DIVX therefore the USB/Card slot is only useful for JPEG or CD ripping to MP3 and is limited to 1GB....voted warm on price, but very much lacking in functions.

What a strange item!

It's possibly the worst product ever made. with no divx and a usb with pretty much no fuction..

Stange times!

I think it does play DivX, if you look at the manual Section 2 Applications and functions it says

This device is intended for use as an electronic entertainment device for the playback........

.... of video formats MPEG4/MPEG4 ASP, AVI and Nero Digital compressed video

Also in section 10.2 it mentions DivX subtitles

LOL, I said I think it plays DivX, I am not 100% sure though the manual implies that it does :)

i have this player which i bought from lidl 4 months ago when it was £32.99 looks exactly same as mine with same remote, it doesnt play any divx format disks or from usb stick that ive tried and the dvd drive is very picky in which brand of disks it will play, its a very nice looking standard dvd player and good for a bedroom but the usb/card reader is useless and the dvd tends to lockup a lot, the remote is not very responsive either you have to aim it exactly at the player and the remote is feather light and very tacky, first player i got lasted 2 days and just went pop with no display but lidl swapped it straight away and this ones been fine, must have just been a dodgy one, mine came with a hdmi lead and i did try on my toshiba lcd tv but a part of the screen was missing from the bottom so went back to using scart.
#13
I can confirm that these do play Divx from either disc or usb/card reader.
I've used 4GB Micro sd in the USB stick and they work a treat
#14
So it DOES play DivX? Only reason I want it as the missus keeps moaning about wanting to watch stuff in bed and I can't be arsed to burn her crap off on to a disc!
#15
I brought this DVD player from Lidl a few months ago, IT PLAYS DIVX / XVID directly from the disc. NOT from USB...
However I was not impressed with the overall picture quality playing anything. Hooked up with HDMI on 1080P tv.

Great price with what features provided. Checked my local stores and is not listed, CV31.
Link goes another area. :?

I bought one of these 2 weeks ago when they were on clearance at £14.99.

Got to say, it's a fantastic device for the price.

I was concerned it wouldn't play DivX as it only mentions MPEG4 on the box and it also says it only supports memory cards and USB sticks up to 1GB.

Took a punt and it plays DivX/Xvid just fine from the USB port and it happily read and played movies and MP3s from my 16GB stick, so no worries there either. No issues with complex folder structures but it does take about 30 seconds to initially scan a 16GB stick. Once that's done though, everything is pretty much instantly available.

Haven't tried the upscaling yet (still using a CRT) but RGB over SCART looks good and the connection options can't be beaten at the price. It even has VGA.

Only negative so far is the awkwardness getting the disc out of the tray when you eject it.

Megamart.

What do you mean the awkwardness what's it like?
Also how do I order this ?

You have to go to the shop to buy it.

It'll play a [LOT more than advertised. To use some of the logos mentioned they have to pay big £££s. May only be a £1.50 per machine per licence but it soon adds up on a sub £20 player.

I have the version of this from last year and it's played everything I've thrown at it.
#21
Strange advertising. If they said it plays avi's from a 16gb USB stick then I reckon they'd sell a whole load more!
#22
I would not recommend any electrical products from these as the last 2 items I bought was the previous Silvercrest model that played divx too but after 4 and 6 months bought went faulty so I rang them up as I had the receipt and both boxes and they gaves me the name of the company to call which I did and they said they do not hold the warranty for the Silvercrest so rang them back up and they didnt too so after 2 months of being passed about from pillar to post they were both binned. They were excellent while they worked but the warranty means nothing so just be aware....... :x
#23
Tempted to go for it at this price but put off by peoples reviews.

You should have taken it back to the store - by law it is the retailer who is responsible for defective goods not the manufacturer (despite what numerous retailers will try to tell you).
#25
Still not convinced enough to take a punt .. Some people say it plays divx, some say it don't. Some say it does but only from disc .. some say it plays from USB only. Some say 1 GB, some say they've used 4GB.

... and for that reason, I'm out.
#26
HOT!! can anyone tell me can you fast forward dvix/xvid files as my cheapo divx player only lets you play them / pause or stop not fast forward.

Most people saying no are only making speculations and observations without actual testing or proof.

Definitely worth it

Quote 2.

doesn't sound like speculation to me... I'll wait for someone who actualy bought this one and comments before deciding. Otherwise it's kinda 50-50 on whether it does or not. USB playback is important to me. Saves having to burn discs all the time.

I presume you can take stuff back to Lidl for a refund, so if it's sh1te, nothing lost.

I've got a Tecnika (sp?) dvd player from Tesco for £17 which plays xvid/divx from disc quite happily, but no USB or upscaling.

That's what I will be doing ;-) Gonna buy it for my little bro so I don't have to keep converting XviD to DVD format. Is this going to be nationwide on the 8th?

Wrong it comes with a 3 year warranty

"Digital audio output " does that mean optical cable?

You should make your own.

I've also got this player. It plays every divx I have tried from USB and disc. It is slow loading from USB but plays faultlessly. I have compared the picture quality with my Philips 5980 and it is equally as good as if not better, that is upscaling to 1080p. It has far better picture quality than the Sumvision Pheonix DVD player which is awful one of the worst I've ever seen.

If I had to criticise this player I would say that build quality is not fantastic, but it does appear to use the same chipset as the award winning Toshiba XD-E500 (though I may be wrong)
#38
Gonna plump for one of these.
Heat and rep.
#39
wow, what a bargain. hdmi and divx for less than £20?

heat and rep added

I've got two of these players. An older non-HDMI and this one. They will play xvids etc from a memory stick or a self powered hardrive definitely.Don't worry about it.It will take a few moments to read the stick tho,the bigger the longer wait i guess.Never had an issue with them.
Saves so much time not having to burn to disc..
