Folks lidl Northern Irish lean mince down to £2 from 23 - 29 June
This was £3.49 for months as I use it and then when they did roll back it was down to £2.99 but further reductions means decent mince for £2 and not the grissly fatty stuff other supermarkets sell

Really good price for 500gm pack and good mince. ;)

Thanks for posting - will be stocking up tomorrow. Lean mince is usually very expensive, so £2 for 500g is an absolute bargain.

For £2 it's worth a punt, the worse thing that can happen is a bad tasting set of taco's

At a couple of quid for a pound of minced beef you've got to question what the quality is like. Anyone tried this?

This mince is as good as it gets without going to your butchers... Very lean hardly any fat comes out when cooking it in the pan. This is only in Northern Ireland... Elsewhere in the uk I don't know about nor the meat but this is sources locally and one of my friends who's farm supplies lidl says lean cuts are used for the mince.. Not the crappy gritty stuff Tesco etc have

Not that it mattters to me - but probably worth specifying the fat percentage.

See 'lean' sold as anywhere between 15% and 5%.

5% is normally sold as 'extra lean' and the one I go for - you do get taste from fat and so lower fat doesn't tend to be as tasty. However, I'd prefer to get my fat ration from more cheese on top, given the choice.

Aldi Aberdeen Angus mince everyone. Worth paying the extra for - very lean and lots of flavour.

This mince is not that cracking

Or the Lidl version. ;)

its a good deal,
just be careful as the lidl meat does tend to go off prior to the sell buy date.

That's not really the worst. That honour would go to finding out that this contains horse meat. My Lidl Pony and all that.

Of course, horse meat is usually lean and pretty tasty!

I bought some and I didn't like it but I gave it to my dog and he loved it. So I guess you just don't know until you try it.

If you have the facts, I don't buy mince, you need to report them to the Lidl HQ in Germany with your personal experiences, Germans are genuinely passionate about quality whereas some times the local behaviour is not the same exacting standard.

Lidl and Aldi were about the only supermarkets not found to have horse meat/ tranquilliser in the mince.
#22
The lean mince at Lidl is poor quality and doesn't even compare to the regular mince from most other supermarkets

Incorrect you may find that Aldi was one of the worst offenders in the horse meat scandal.
Guardian article

I think you will find that morrisons was about the only supermarket to have not found horse meat, it sources its meat direct from farmers.
