My wife was looking in a jewellers window the other day and I'm sure I heard her mumbling something about how she would like me to buy her something with carrots for Xmas.

I couldn't just spend 19p on her for Xmas? Or could I?

Nah, I'll buy her two bags! :p

I'd like to add to this also that *not* having a best before date on veg goes some way towards stopping wastage for large supermarkets, who dispose of tonnes of perfectly good fruit and veg every week just because a 'best before date' says that they should, and because many consumers won't buy things that they feel aren't fresh, even though their is nothing wrong with it.

Unfortunately these days people rely more on best before dates than their noses and eyes, which is very sad.

Be aware, I think there is a limit on how much you can buy. I had a trolley full of veg at the checkout but realised I needed another bag of small onions. I asked the guy on the till if it was alright to go and grab another bag and he said 'no that's shallot!'
I reckon you might be able to buy a few in each store though.....Lidl by Lidl

Nice to see the price-matching and hoping the BIG 4 follow.

Whatever happens, Aldi have been the leaders and any price drops are down to them.

Get from Aldi or Lidl and it will be rotten in two or three days time.I am not implying that this happens in all Aldi or Lidl, but it does happen quite a lot with the fruit and veg in Llanelli stores.

Just watch that they haven't misrepresented the mpg on the carrots like Volkswagon, or the farts per hour on the Brussels

Seen this in the store brochure on Wednesday and thought is it worth getting up early today and the local store with its small carpark and thought not worth it.
#33

I've heard that Lidl have started adding chemicals to their food, starting with their gravy. Perhaps it makes them last longer? :p

Veg doesn't need a best before date. Carrots, potatoes etc will keep for weeks on end in the fridge. Best to gauge the state of the vegetables at the time of purchase rather than worrying about what arbitrary best before date someone came up with. Sprouts deteriorate quite fast so I tend to just get frozen ones, defrost them overnight, halve them and fry them with bacon on Christmas Day.
