Lidl's sell Sarsons Worcester sauce - 150ml - 2 for £1.20, making it 60p a bottle compared with Lee & Perrins for £1.19 at Tesco. L & P's is even more in some stores.

Sarsons tastes just as good to me.

For me there is in this case only ever Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, and for the sake of the 17p difference in price no contest in taste and quality.

059 - seems you can't count - L&P is £1.19 in my post and Sarsons is 60p each if you buy two - that makes Sarsons almost half-price. For taste, Sarsons does the job for me.

themachman - thanks, worth posting your deal separately. Will keep an eye out for that but it was not in my local store last week.

maddogb - my Sarsons label states there is gluten in the barley.

I think this is vegetarian whereas L&P isn't

joe4mg - Sarsons does have anchovy paste in it, but I suppose it depend on how strict a vegetarian anyone is.

I wouldn't say it tastes the same personally, another good additive is a good oyster sauce bought from a Chinese Supermarket is better value.

99p stores do a HUGE bottle (don't know the size and I think it might be Heinz - sorry) but it's ideal for cooking - not sure I'd use it for when I want the 'real' taste - like on cheese on toast but it's perfect for in a spag bol or shepherds pie. (_;)

micks_missus - see themachman's comments - it might be the 410ml Heinz size in your 99p store - its 79p in Home Bargains, themachman says. Unfortunately I do not have a 99p store near me in Caerphilly - hope they open one soon as they do some great deals.

The 2 for £1.20 offer is no longer available in my Caerphilly store, I noticed yesterday.
