I got this the last time it was on sale and it's been great. I can now download stuff, put it on my usb drive and pop it into the dvd player and away you go......yes it is DivX/Xvid.
#3
yes it will play divx :)

Lidl are great for players like this, the one we got a few years ago is still going strong and plays anything we throw at it (the targa one)
#4
wow this sounds like a great little deal , are there any requirements for the usb or will it take any type of external storage?
#5
i got a silvercrest from lidl a couple of years ago

easily the best player ive ever come across.......it plays everything!!!!!

highly recommended

Hmmm... there are no deals shown on the website for April 5th. How do you know this is going to be on? Is it the same one available in NI next Monday http://www.lidl.ie/ie/home_ni.nsf/pages/c.o.20070402.p.HighandDVDPlayer? If so, there is no mention of DIVX/XVID and it's also £39.99.

I agree with riddles, I got this last time and its amazing. Download anything from your computer, no need to place it on DVD just onto USB and plays perfectly.
I didnt know about the multi region thing, i'll try that today

Useful picture link by OP (http://www.dv-rec.de/test/player2006/silvercrest/6511/6511.html).
Just hope you can select "English" as default language option for the menus.
In the pics, all the menus are in German :?

see fifth line down of specs

Think I'll be popping into Lidl for this, I like the look of it over the Philips one on the board due to the USB 2.0.

Have a mate who works in Lidl and asked him to keep me informed when this came back in as missed it last time.
Stated that will be getting in on April 5th.

Wicked, I nearly bought the DIVX one that pixmania were doing for 30 sheets the other day. Glad I didn't! ;-)

If the SL65 satellite receiver I have is anything to go by this should be a neat bit of kit. Especially looking forward to the USB port to save blank discs! Wooohooo.

Gonna have to get there early I reckon. :giggle:
#13
Can u connect an external HDD to the USB port ???
#14
Its not as cheap as what they have previously done. I am sure they had a divx capable DVD player in Lidl for £20. If it was upscaling with HDMI then maybe it might be worth £30...

Does anyone know if it plays DVD+R discs?
Also is the offer regional or will they be nationwide?

Voted hot:thumbsup:

Although its unlikely to do so (only seems to be xbmc that can), does anyone know if this player can handle ".hr AC3 5.1" Divx files ?
#18
I'm pretty sure it said it had an AC3 decoder on it :)
#19
Does anyone have any experience of USB connectivity with this player - The manual above states that it only supports USB keys up to 512MB, which is no good for me - My smallest USB key is 1GB and ideally I would want to connected my (powered) external 250gb USB hard drive to it as most of my divx is on that - so I am looking for a divx dvd player that supports that
#20
I connect up my 6gb usb drive almost daily without problems. However I've tried my External HDD and after a while of it trying to load I gave up on it.

Could be file system, perhaps the player will only read FAT32.
You could try formatting your drive to FAT32 just to try it out, although it has its limitations.

A+ player i bought 2 of these players about 4 months ago.....never had any problem plays everything i throw at it

i also connect my 40gb mp3 via usb and it plays movies/music without no fuss
word of warning if you want one you will have to get there early as they only stock a limited amount and they go like hot cakes.....good luck

That doesnt mean it can play the .hr divx files.....All the Divx playing DVD players I have ever tried these on play the file with sound but no picture. It only seems to be XBMC that can handle the picture at the same time.

So, if anyone could try a .hr divx file on one of these, it would be most helpful.

This deal is 34.99 here in N. Ireland and it's on sale from 2nd April (tomorrow). It is also available in Silver or Black.
#27
Picked mine up today :-D 34.99 and in black.
#28
I have got Thursday off work so will be at my store for it opening at 8am to make sure I get one.

Luckily my flat overlooks the shop so its not far to go lol
#29
it seems to be that the HD needs to be FAT32, and it will be read. imagine that! 250gb on movies/photos at a remote controls lenght. astonishing.
#30
Guys... I am almost sure that there MUST be a USB-to-USB cable lying around which... if used well could eventually allow you to connect your computer to that player.... Just an idea ;-)

how does the umax Kazuki DVD-2800X MPEG4/DivX/DVD Player

Its got nero 7 software CD.
#33
Got one, will set it up tonight and see what it's like, thanks to the OP
#34
Just got back from Lidl, plenty still left. Didn't get one as I thought it's not worth £29.99 with no upscaling
#35
Just picked up 3, plenty in stock at Wembley branch
#36
Picked up 1 at Lidl Govan. None out on the floor you just had to ask the staff but she said there were plenty left.
#37
Just picked up one in Crowthorne - plenty left as of this morning.

Setup was easy and all menus where in English.

Tests on the following memory and DIVX files worked:

SD - 512meg Hama & 2Gb Kingston : Perfect
Memory Stick - 512Meg Magicgate Sandisk : Perfect

USB Stick - 128Meg & 1Gb : did not recognise it.

DVD player worked well playing DIVX files perfectly.
Only issue I had was the FF - it skipped time rather than FF evenly.

Nero Software: Only a 30 Day trial is include.

Overall rating: Worthwhile for divx and memory capabilities.
#38
mine worked well with smart media card 128 mb.
tried external hard drive 120 gb will not reconise,
tried 4 gb mp4 player worked fine .

now i think from what i have seen of this machine the philips 5960 is the much better one to go with might cost a little bit more , the expression " you get what you pay for " mean anything?
#39
I think the Philips does upscaling which makes it better
