Maybe its so that if you think you can't carry it you get a trolley, then end up buying more.

Voted hot, never really shop at Lidl mainly because it's out of the way but might have to go!!!

My local Lidl had some handbaskets when they first opened, but they disappeared. I asked where they had gone and was told they had all been nicked in the first week.

I just fill my shopping bag, then empty it out at the till. No one has accused me of shoplifting yet.

Looks like they might be frozen(raw). Doesn't look like it's in breadcrumbs
#23
Hot from me and thanks for all the typing - I could use that as a shopping list. The marinated turkey fillets are really nice - I will be stocking up on them, thanks again

The turkey fillets are frozen, raw. They are just marinated, no breadcrumbs.

Mine still has them. I tend to just end up putting stuff into my shopping bag though, then take it out at tills.
#27
Good work OP! Heat from me too. Motorways cops was a repeat anyway.

Good deals so hot. As someone that was on the inside for a while at Lidl i can tell you hand baskets are a stict no-no except in exceptionally "posh" areas and for new store openings.

Lidl offer great prices on a strictly limited range of stock, but o deliver these prices they treat their suppliers and staff about as ethically as Pol-pot - your choice.

Thats what I got told too !

I work at Lidl and am on checkout most of the time. I really wish we did have handbaskets as it would stop customers placing their bags on the belt and waiting for me to take it out for them.

Lots of customers take out the boxes we take off shelves when de-carding, does the job as a basket quite well really.

But yes, great deals here, I'm sure I'll be selling loads of it all tomorrow!

Fresh Chicken breast fillets 1kg £5.99 although Netto have 1kg on for £5 and every other week drop this to £4. If you can't get to a lidl

and Tesco, Asda, Morrisons etc. treat their staff with such love and respect!!

Have some heat just for the time it took, will also have a look though i dont usually shop here thanks
#34
Smokin' hot there nic!.. and btw. The Marinated turkey breast fillets are :3

Value for moneyprices are reflected in number of staff, lack of baskets, buying plastic bags etc. Get all the 'luxures' and they have to be paid for somehow.

Used Lidl in Germany and use it in UK. You know what you are getting and I recommend just getting an Ikea bag, put shopping on checkout, place bag in trolley then fill bag with shopping when paid for - simples!!!
#36
The Edinburgh store has Baskets =]
#37
No really. Tesco's and co have nothing on ze germans. As an ex district manager i wont get into the details of what went on. If you want proof - Lidl's labour relations are so poor in germany that a number of german unions got together and published (hardback) a little black book of all of the "problomatic" trangressions within the company - they even had it translated into 10+ languages. Anyway, prices are prices and their is no denying theirs are hot.

P.S JJBdude, i sympathise with you just make sure you keep the stores prod. above 400 and the birds will keep signing :)

Will retract my earlier statement Tyranicus66 found this article http://www.cafebabel.co.uk/article/17726/lidl-cracks-the-whip.html perhaps they`re not quite as bad

Not good employers. Particularly hate the way the checkout staff are timed, so they have to rush the stuff through.

Totally pointless, though, because it aggravates customers and achieves nothing. The stuff just piles up at the end, and there's then a delay while the customer takes time to load it into bags. The staff also wait until everything's loaded onto the belt before starting to put it through the till to minimise the time between starting and finishing.
