I've just switched to this
I know the MVNO companies can be a nightmare at times with customer service, but this one has been bought by its own network (EE) and is now run by them and I've been very pleased. I called to port in my number, and waited 3 minutes to reach a real person, and 48 hours for the port to take effect.
During my research, I saw a few great deals on U-Switch for LIFE, but this one beats the lot if you're a high user. From my own experience, the coverage is exactly as EE 3G network so no 'restricted access'.
I hope it helps a few of you (probably ideal for the kids!!)

You know what - thats a shed-load cheaper than the basic charge for a landline into your house!

Eww, 3G.
I don't know why people are so snobby about 3g.
When I was with '3' I bought a new 4g phone to benefit from the so called 4g speeds but upon doing a speed test between the 3g & 4g there was very little difference because a lot of people around my area must also be on 4g and using all the masts bandwidth.
Plus for internet browsing 3g is well fast enough and if you want to stream movies these low data allowances would soon be eaten up.

When I was on life mobile, full bars 3G struggled to load webpages and definitely could not stream music or video. Wouldn't recommend this if you're a power user

The real advantage of LTE is reduced latency - most of the time 3G/HSPA+ will have enough download speed for most people, but it's the far quicker 'response' of LTE from which you really reap the benefits. It feels much more like a WiFi connection, and is in theory good enough for reliable tethered online gaming. This IS still a good deal for the right user though.

Already posted a month ago by me. Speaking from my experience you won't be on this tho. On welcome letter it will state 4000 mins unlimited text and 4 gb data. Also did you get your £16.80 from top cash back like I did?

I concur. 7mbps on my son's life mobile. Faster than my broadband before I changed to fibre! Customer services are extremely pleasant and helpful.

Pay £1.55 more and get the same from EE with 4G usage and PAYG so not tied down. The current offer is only for 6 months but still better than paying nearly the same price for just 3G.

Search EE MTV Trax Sim.

Edit - it's actually 7GB of data and 400 mins and unlimited text

Ah, didn't spot your post, and now that I've looked back in can see another too!
Oh well, hope it helps someone anyway.
Didn't use the cash back, I've never used them. Too lazy!
I am looking at my online account and it says i have over 5Gb remaining so Ii must be getting 6Gb right? I've yet to get a proper bill so I don't know what I'll be posting because despite it saying £13.45 during the application, the confirmation email said £8.65 so they messed up somewhere. We shall see.
Despite what others say about 3g, I have a Sony Z5 and comparing it with my pals identical phone which is on Hutchinson 3, on a 4g contact, there VB is minimal difference so I'm quite happy. Streaming YouTube and the like is perfect.

Fair play Paul. Checked your deal out and yes yours has gone via unlimited options. I think clicking cash back option messed mine up. However a quick call via 500 sorted it out. I ordered mine a month back and still says the cash back will pay out in 18 weeks so you didn't really miss much. Did u know after three cleared payments life will offer you a 4g handset too?

I'd love 3G and the times I get 4G I don't really notice, can't be worse than this for data on the go.

What's the 4G handset offer please? if you mean 3 DD payments gone out, that applies to me, as I went with the uswitch offer posted on here, which was £10 for 3000 mins, unlimited texts and 3gb of 3G data (which I agree, was noticeably faster than my previous o2 3G/4G, even though I never measured it

I hope these kind good unlimited minutes sim only deals are available on the 1st of November! Missus contract runs out and looking to get her a good sim only deal this time with unlimited minutes...shes good for a handset in the Samsung S6 Edge for the time being...

I easily get 26Mb/s with EE 4G so any argument about 3G being as fast as 4G is laughable nonsense.
Sorry £13.50 a month and only 3G is ICE COLD,and only a madman willsay otherwise.

2G/3G/4G speeds drop exponentially as you move away from the transmission tower/mast.
4G drops at a higher exponent than 3G.

3 upgraded it's 3g signal to a higher speed than any other network and then focused on 4g about 18months after ee. So the speed difference on 3 will be less significant.

A lot of people are talking rubbish about the difference between 3g and 4g. The latancy on 3G will probably be better for most people in real world applications unless you are in a large city or live close to a 4g mast as the signal falls off so quickly. EE have the only decent 4g nationwide network as they have by far the most spectrum in the desired bands. Ofcom should be ashamed they have allowed this to happen.

All other carriers have patchy 4g coverage and I've lost count of the times people have complained about coverage of 4g giff gaff/o2 and three. If you simply look at the spectrum each carrier has v the number of customers you can easily see why o2 4g struggles so much.

The only point of 4g imo is to stream 1080p/4K video, not even 720HD as 3G (in general 7mb+ On EE) can easily do this with a decent network behind it. BUT no carrier gives you enough 4g data for a reasonable price to actually do this. I note that in the US T-Mobile give you free streaming at ~600p as this is adequate for the vast number of mobile devices.

I would take a full 3G signal on life over a patchy 4g one any day. And for the vast majority of the Facebook using population 3G is great value.i would say the lower data plans on life are better value BUT with increasing video content in Facebook/snapchat this is a good option for heavy video users in good 3G areas who want the flexibility of a 30day plan.

I have been with life now for 6 mths I have found them great, there customer service is brilliant nothing to much problem and straight through to somebody no waiting. I swapped over the other day to the £5.95 tariff 1000mins and 1.5gb of data its a great value SIM on 3g. I asked about 4g and when it was coming and she said she could offer me a 4g SIM only deal now 750mins unlimited texts and 2gb of data for £9.95 didn't take it as I am getting around 5 to 12 mbps on 3g and happy enough with that.

Personally I find my 4g with three to be very reliable. I find the 3g very bad... I don't think people can stereotype networks as they are constantly changing. Three has vastly improved their service since I first signed up.

This was my 4g in cornwall.

If you are a power user then don't be stingy and dig a little deeper in your pockets for the service you demand.

when you go onto a life month handset contract you get 4g and you automatically excepted for one after sic clear payments I got my z5 compact for 23.50 a month with them
1 Like #39
you don't get exactly the same speed on 4G and some networks like o2 is still sucks as their speed is below any 3G network in UK, majority times I do get H / H+ on my 4G Three contract, exactly the same as second LIFE Mobile contact, the price difference is £12 (both SIM only deals) and with Three I do get less minutes and data! Therefore you need to be stupid to vote cold for it as no such thing as 100% 4G coverage in UK, if you are lucky to get 200 Mbps speed in one spot stay 24/7 in this spot as you don't get the same speed in different area.

It's not that far off in my experience which is area dependant of course.

I've been testing a few this week. Life 3G is of course slower than EE 4g but the download margin is not that big, sometimes only 4mb in it, the upload is a bigger margin

Depends what you want it for I guess
