Brilliant series, far far better than Ashes To Ashes.
A fine way to invest 8 quid.

Hot from me

Not everyone has a blu-ray player though.

I got these for around £9 last year, so this is a steal for an excellent show. Loved every minute of it. Heat added.

Incorrect

It will have been shot in 16mm, which carries far more bandwidth than even BluRay can handle.
BluRay will have less compression than DVD, and benefit from HD audio track.

Apparently the blu-ray versions are only upscaled, they aren't actually in true HD.

While the Blu-ray version is an improvement, it's not as great as you might expect as the series was apparently shot on film, then neg rushes were either transferred to videotape or straight into an online editing system in standard definition.

To produce a "proper" HD version you would need to go back to the original film elements (if you can get hold of them), edit them together, redo all the digital effects (removal of anachronistic elements etc.) and recompile the soundtrack.

If (like me - and I suspect many others here) you don't have a bluray player your comparison is worthless.

The merit of the "deal" is on the item posted.
