sounds good to start but when you think about 'like for like' specifications it sounds not so good - if i replaced my laptop which i bought 3 years ago for nearly 500 quid i'd be getting 512mb Ram with a not-very-fast celeron processor - i don't think i'd want that now - so it depends what they mean by like-for-like .......

Replacement is of equal value + 10% inflationary uplift ie today you buy for £1000 in three years you can have a replacement of max £1100. Max of ten each person/ company, if you don't redeem every three years you lose entitlement to next one. Has to be returned in working order (first replacement wont matter as its only on products with 3 year warranty bought anyway, but if you dont buy the extended warranty on the replacements you could run into problems on 2nd/3rd replacements etc). Even if you get the minimum one new laptop you effectively halve the purchase price - just gotta remember that you'll have some fuss over getting private info off your old laptop, and that software might be tied into that laptop eg microsoft office etc needing a new copy if you abide by their EULA.

Can anyone say the words "Hoover free flights"??? and mobilephone 'cashbacks'?

Those terms and conditions make it pretty easy to refuse the laptop. Only original parts can be used for upgrades, the laptop has to be in good condition and free from defect.....

uhm....

The smallprint seems to contain some fairly restrictive terms. Looks like it would be too difficult to qualify for this and enjoy the laptop at the same time. I think I'd rather have the opportunity to select my own upgrade after three years and add whatever upgrades and accessories I like to my laptop in the meantime.

It'd be good for small business use I guess - if you can get your employees to stop dropping / spilling coffee on their laptops ;-)

The big snag is that, as an example, a Core2duo 2GB Lifebook costs £975 from ebuyer or 2.4x as much as an equivalent Fujitsu Siemens non-Lifebook laptop.
