Disc One: The Likely Lads Surviving Episodes:

Before 'Whatever Happened To...' came 'The Likely Lads', a slice of 60s working class life. It slotted in neatly alongside 'Steptoe' and 'Till Death Us Do Part', but this time the focus was on youth and it was set far away from London.

These are the same Terry Collier and Bob Ferris we learnt to love in the legendary 70s series - only younger. Two sharp young Geordies, short on cash, hormones buzzing, eager to live their young lives to the full.

Episodes Comprise:

1. Entente Cordiale.
2. Double Date.
3. Older Women Are More Experienced.
4. The Suitor.
5. Last of the Big Spenders.
6. Rocker.
7. Goodbye To All That.
8. The Other Side Of The Fence.

Disc Two: Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? Series One:

It's been over five years since Terry Collier left his mate Bob and joined the army. Now returning to civvy street, he finds the country has undergone a sexual revolution, his beloved Newcastle is unrecognisable and worst of all - Bob has an office job, plays badminton and is engaged to prim librarian, Thelma.

Episodes Comprise:

1. Strangers On A Train.
2. Home Is The Hero.
3. Cold Feet.
4. Moving On.
5. I'll Never Forget Whatshername.
6. Birthday Boy.
7. No Hiding Place.
8. Guess Who's Coming To Dinner.
9. Storm In A Tea Chest.
10. The Old Magic.
11. Countdown.
12. Boys Night In.
13. End Of An Era.

Disc Three: Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? Series Two:

The second - and final - series found Bob now married to Thelma. Dedicated to married life, the nine-to-five and the new-build semi - it seems he has finally left Terry behind. After all what has he got in common with a work-shy, mayhem-making loudmouth - except the past?

Episodes Comprise:

1. Absent Friends.
2. Heart To Hear.
3. The Ant And The Grasshopper.
4. One For The Road.
5. The Great Race.
6. Some Day We'll Laugh About This.
7. In Harm's Way.
8. Affairs And Relations.
9. The Expert.
10. Between Ourselves.
11. The Go Between.
12. Conduct Unbecoming.

So what is it then?

It isn't missing an episode, this box set includes all the surviving episodes. The original single disc releases missed out one episode (I think it was called Over The Fence). Did you know another series was written but James Bolam didn't want to know - a great shame.

hi again it is missing a ep as its saying this on ammazon.
this is what they said,
Well this is a dubious release, it's nice to have but it could have been a whole lot better. The BBC missed off the episode THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE on the 1960's original series single release and I, having bought that disc was extremely angry at being forced to shell out extra money to effectively buy just one episode, an episode that should have been on the original disc anyway.

if they had all eps i would of brought a copy. : (

The missing ep 'The Other Side of the Fence' was omitted due to an authoring error on the original 'vanilla' release but was added as an 'extra' in the boxset version.

So this is everything, minus the Xmas Night with the Stars 'insert'.

hi thanks for that you say its missing the Xmas Night with the Stars 'insert' is this on any other dvd set??

Bewes & Bolam had a falling out many years ago. The story goes that Bewes revealed in an interview that Bolam's wife was expecting a baby. Unfortunately Bolam had not yet told anyone in the family and was greatly upset by this. Their friendship ended and Bolam refused to work with Bewes again.

Great idea for the wife. She's a big LL fan.

Perfect "stocking filler".

Many thanks! H&R added.
