Just been to my local tesco at Coryton Cardiff, and discovered that both these items are £13.73 - down from £50 or so. I think they're both an absolute bargain and even though I have the NSLU2 - (which can be modified to run a number of server based apps, see http://nslu2-linux.org), I bought them both.

I have an image of this, will post when I get to a bluetooth computer.

Go easy, its my first...

Would love one of these additional storage but no Tesco near me that sells this stuff - is it from an Extra?
#2
thats a brilliant price, have been after a print server for ages. just a shame my tesco's both normal and extra have never had them in (glad hubby reminded me b4 i struggled to tesco with a sprained arm lol) as i was about to go first thing in morning. might give them a ring just in case anyway
#3
Yup, was a extra. There were quite a few wireless print servers left, but I nabbed the last nslu2.
#4
can anyone pick me 1 up please.
nw london.

I have one of these - they can be hacked fairly easily to run Linux - I use mine to link to my topfiled wirelessly from my PC, as well as to stream music and radio to my XBox 360. Very versatile little unit!

Note - out of the box these are file servers - not print servers. Im not sure, but after hacking them to run linux you may be able to run a linux based print servers on it - check the linux link posted earlier in this thread.

Dave.

Dave, the OP posted two items at the price - one is a print server :)
#8
Oh - I see now - oops. I might pick up one of the print servers at that price!

[mod]#12
Read the C-net reviews first ;-)
#13
Would you happen to have the sku code for this item, thanks
#14
SKU code? I'm assuming thats the code tesco use?

Anyway they are:

0745883562169 for the WPS54G
0745883560585 for the NSLU2
#15
Checked in Norwich at the Ipswich Road and Blue Boar Lane (Tesco Extra) branches - no sign of them. Anyone had any luck with finding these anywhere else?
#16
None at Bristol Eastvile.

Went to same store as you Ironyboy but none there and the guy on the electrical checkout looked very confused when I asked him.

Was it by all the wireless routers + was it definetly the Coryton store? They must have gone fast!
#19
None in solihull. Got 10 doughnuts for 99p though, so cheers ;-)
#20

Nope, got a laserjet and a Dell colour inkjet (posted on hotukdeals) so both will be used. The dell printer is still in the box because I didnt have the space for it, I can put it anywhere now :)

Been wanting these for ages so this is a bargain.
#29
Sold one for £40 last week off eBay :)
#30
I almost bought one off ebuyer a few months ago but couldnt justify spending £55 on that. I'm guessing you just print to the IP once they are installed?
#31
Honestly I don't know, just after buying it for a Brother laser and label printer I bought a Brother DCP340CW which has wireless built in so it was never opened.
#32
Yeah, Western Ave didnt have anything.

I didnt want the printer ones anyways as no use for them.

Oh well.

Hi Dave, How do you have this setup exactly? I've just bought a Topfield and have an xbox 360 so just interested. Cheers!
#36
Says on the box, not compatible for multifunctional printers. WRONG!
Works fine on my Samsung SCX-4200. Took abit of head scratching earlier and the setup wizard is pants but working fine now.

Print to printer via IP address, which is reserved on my router. Also this supports WPA, wizard doesnt give you the option. Printer admin page does!!!

Just to help people out looking for this item:

Quote this EAN number to customer services when you ring a store up.

EAN : 0745883560585

It will be much easier for them to find it.

;)

no nslu2 at martlesham extra :(
