This could be a bargain, depending on what exact model/version it is?

Not worth ordering on the website, since the delivery costs are just too high (£8.63).

Go in store and ask to look at the box, check the version against the list at dd-wrt.com and may be take a bargain home.

Flashing alternative firmwares/operating systems onto a Linksys router voids it's warranty.

Flashing, when done improperly, can cause the router to stop functioning. Don't come crying to me when you brick one.

WRT54G (Version?)
- 54MBit 802.11G
- WEP & WPA encyption
- 1 WAN port for Ethernet Cable/xDSL modem
- 4 port switch

No, not unless you buy a second cheap wireless router, plug it into the 360s Ethernet port and set it up as a wireless bridge.

Any Wireless Bridge or Wireless Gaming Adapter should work with the WRT54G, to bring your xBox 360 online.

If you live near a Morgan Computers store have a look if they have one of these.

DD-WRT is not illegal ppl. It's freeware custom firmware based on a linux Operating System and is VERY functional.

I've got this router, seems to work fine, I've never updated its firmware, am I missing out on something? Could I get more out of it by updating to another firmware?

Alternative firmwares can increase range, speed, and general functionality. ie: better statistics logging, advanced bandwith management, wireless bridge mode, wireless repeater mode, multiple wan ports (experimental and doesn't work on most routers!).

[COLOR=Red]Alternative firmwares are for people who like to tinker with things and are not afraid to break their router. If you do start playing with firmwares make sure that you have a backup router to use, in case you brick/destroy your main router - which can very easily happen.

Have read through these links. If in doubt do not upgrade the firmware.
