My Cars not Worth 17000

Yeah, but I bet your car hasn't got a solid wood plinth?

But you then need the rest of the system!

(But I will admit it was the Klimax name and the fact it reaches the pinnacle of reproduction that got me interested. :p )

seem to recall the original Linn Sondek was ~300GBP in the mid 70's - quite pricey in those days

OK, so it's been improved a fair bit, but this price really is a joke oO

This isnt a standard LP12, think of it as the HiFi equivalent of the gold plated AMG Mercedes.

The standard model starts from under £3,000 for a working deck.

These are "buy for life" machines, and totally incomparable with the £49.99 crap from Argos?Morrisions/Tesco etc

Not personally my cup of tea, I know people who own them and dont find the sound any better than several cheaper makes, but we are still talking £1,000+ turntables when I say cheaper.

I certainly dont think this is 100 times better than a £150 Pro-Ject starter turntable.

Still, for all the colds this will get, I think a £1700 trade in for a £50 POS is super hot and will be taken up by the same people who bought cheap old cars to get the government trade-in offer on a new "more environmentally friendly" SUV a few years back.

Cool, so the turntable is below list before the discount is taken off!

I have been an LP12 user for more than 30 years and I think the prices are a joke these days. 25k just for turntable and I assume no Lingo plus others electronics. No amount of precision is worth that amount of money

Expensive. Yes. Is it a deal. Maybe if someone is willing to pay the full price.

If only I had kept hold of my Linn LP12 and Isobariks..... I could afford to retire!!

Amazing Analogue sound which has never been surpassed by CD, even a Naim setup!

nice saving, but in truth only fit for my under-butler....

A serious buyer could easily negotiate much more than 10% for no trade in.

Regardless, if you really wanted to spend that kind of money on a turntable, then from an engineering, quality and performance perspective, it's very hard to see why anyone might purchase this rather than an SME 30/2. Or, you could just buy an old Technics SP10 and a good plinth, and be done with it at a fraction of the cost.

this analog technology is not worth anymore than Aldi turntable for 25 pounds as it works on same principles

Yes, but its the precision of the engineering standards that is applied to those principles.
The LP12 will play a record without applying plastic deformation to the vinyl. The dynamic and frequency range + channel separation will be far greater than that Aldi record grinder that probably doesn't even tame the turntables own resonances.
However if you've only ever listened to low resolution MP3's played through boombox speakers you wont have any idea what sound quality and Hi-Fi is about.

Sound quality from high end Analogue is impossible to portray using words - its very frustrating but true.

You have to hear it to believe it.

Once you have sat and listened with intent - then the world of stereo soundstage and pure musicality will leave an indelible picture in your mind and a hugely significant dent in your wallet!!

Please don't knock it until you have tried it.

I have a high quality 5.2 theatre system and yes it is whizz bang and has 1200w but does not come anywhere close to a £30k Analogue setup
