PocketSurfer 2

PocketSurfer 2 is an ultra-thin portable device that easily fits into a pocket or bag and delivers the real web, just like at home or at work. Weighing in at just 174 grams the PocketSurfer 2 allows you to browse the web in its original layout on a 640x240 full colour widescreen display using a mouse cursor and a full backlit QWERTY keyboard making it the most usable hand-held web device around. It doesn¹t hang about either, with page-load times of under seven seconds over GPRS thanks to compression technology you'll be flying around the web just as you would at your desk.

No Wires

The PocketSurfer 2 has its own in-built GPRS antenna and SIM card which means it can connect itself straight to the mobile network to get you online immediately, you don¹t need any other bits and pieces at all, just get it out of the box and go!

No Contracts

The PocketSurfer 2 doesn't need you to take out a contract, you can use it out-of-the-box for 12 months without paying a penny and to use it for the next year will cost as little as £40!

No Compromise

Browse the web just as you would on your desktop PC. Like no other handheld web-browsing experience, the PocketSurfer 2 keeps all your pages displaying just as they were designed.

Reviews:

ABC News.com: "...PocketSurfer took only seven seconds to download the main web page of a popular news site. The page appeared on the PocketSurfer in exactly the same format and layout as if viewed on a conventional laptop or computer. Other wireless data devices couldn't reproduce the page at all because of the large number of graphics and images involved. Other handhelds took several minutes to produce pages with a skewed layout or reduced functionality because the devices couldn't handle certain aspects of the web page".

includes subscription.....

Why do people constantly compare products that ARE NOT THE SAME!

The ASUS EEE will need wifi or to be paired with a mobile phone along with contract etc to access mobile web browsing. This device is different. Its all inclusive web access on the move.

Your mainly paying for the airtime. I think after the first years its about £40 for a years access....

It doesnt do anything else except internet from memory.

To correctly compare with the EEE please include a relevant mobile phone tariff, the cost of a datacard or mobile to pair with the device.

Agreed, don't know if this is a good price or not but don't compare with a totally different item and without all the correct facts to back up why it's not a good deal!

What network is this on?

If Its only £40 a year for web access (£3.33 a month) you could use the sim in your mobile for web access?

Nice for general web browsing but reviews (1,2) at Amazon say no online videos or radio.

OK. Fair point on comparing different products but I look at a posted deal and compare to other deals and options.

I'm looking for a portable device that will have built in wifi (as I work and commute past and near lots of WIFI spots that I can use) and basic computer functions. I saw this deal and initially thought it could be good but the ongoing costs, to me made it a cold deal and I merely informed that I'll be spending my money on the Asus. Thus voted cold.

At least I told you why I voted cold. Cost wise, for me, it was more practical to buy something else so I don't consider this good value for money.

I'm not looking for an argument but if people are going to start criticizing posts then I'll just stop posting my reasons and cast my vote.

Well this device doesnt even have wifi so not really sure why you considered it at all??

Well to be fair, its like going onto a deal about a bag or oranges and voting it cold because you can get some apples cheaper that suit your purpose better???

It's not really the ethic of the site eh....

Nevermind.
