The 8" is a great little FULL Windows 8.1 tablet for under £50? Cheaper than the 7INCH, and reviews say even better build quality, better screen.

Bargain in my book. Was looking to complete my Christmas shopping and snared two of these and well happy. Cashback tracked for me too at £4.20 per device (TCB) making it £45.78 each.

soza - 10" also reduced, to £79.98..

dazzab30 - advertised in the Daily Mirror today so if it sells out online, still available in store.

Sold out online.

Is there a way of selling the Office key for these? Dont really need 365.

The Office 365 licence is tied to the Microsoft Windows 8.1 with Bing Operating system and is not transferable.

If you find yourself fraudulently being sold an OEM Office 365 key without hardware and without a COA, you can report the vendor to Microsoft. You just need to give the Ebay username of the seller. It's easy to tell the fraudsters selling the keys - they have laptopsdirect in their buyer feedback for exactly the same number of Office 365 keys sold on their Ebay selling account.

Here's the address to report the Ebay sellers to:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/howtotell/cfr/report.aspx

Were you the 'milk monitor' at school by any chance?!
There is absolutely no need to go reporting people. The Office 365 key will still work perfectly. No one loses out. Microsoft still gains an Office customer, and the person who bought the original tablet gets to offload a piece of software they don't need and won't use.
I am right now benefiting from a 365 licence key that I bought off a HUKD'er who didn't need the licence key. He has a tenner in his pocket, and I have a useful licence.

Just give your little crusade a rest. It's tiresome

That's got to be a pricing error as the Linx 10 is obviously the most expensive, then the Linx 8 and then the 7.

Linx 7 = £89.99
Linx 8 = £49.98
Linx 10 = £79.98

I would be surprised if they don't cancel it as it's kind of obviously an error of sorts.

It's also a possible £30 cashback if you trade in 7 inch tablet.
See HERE for details.
I went for the 10 inch with the £50 cash back as posted on the other deal :)

Gutted at the 7" stipulation on that. Got a 5" tablet in the cupboard...

Haha, had a deal alert activated on here so they email me any deals that get posted about the Linx devices.

HUKD just emailed me to alert me of my own deal...

Knowing nothing about Windows tablets would appreciate some advice.

Was thinking of buying a cheap android tab to use as a monitor for Ip cam at my front door.

Is their suitable apps available for this to do same thing. Would be on 24/7.

So the 8" model for £50 or 10" for £80? I'm not bothered about the size but, the 2GB RAM must make a difference with the performance in Windows right?

If they were clearing stock you'd expect a price drop of maybe £10 or £20, but the Linx 10 is listed as £79.98 and that's normally £159. That's a £79.02 discount. That's crazy if it's not an error.

I don't see them honouring it at all since these things sell really well and everyone else has them priced high.

apparently not much, windows 8.1 seems to be very efficient on low ram systems, but i would imagine the 2gb would come in for a bit of gaming, steam games will prob run better.

ahh i don't need this but i'm tempted.

its basically windows, so if you can install it on your pc/laptop you can install it on this.

and there isn't a reliable way to both charge and use USB data at the same time.

USB hubs work around that problem.

Here's one and here's another.

You need an OTG hub though as its micro USB.

Not with these :)

You would plug in the USB to micro USB cable that come with the tablet into the USB hub and then a 5v USB cable can go to a socket on the wall. You need the 5v for the Linx tablets to charge correctly as they seem very picky. There's a big discussion on it in the expired Linx 7 eBay thread.

It's not really suitable for 24/7 use with attached peripherals. There is only 1 micro-USB port which is used both for charging and USB devices, and there isn't a reliable way to both charge an
d use USB data at the same time.
Wouldn't need anything connected via USB other than the charger.
It's only to run IP Cam viewer software to access the mjpeg stream on local network. There's a load of apps on Google play store so hoping plenty on Windows store if there is such a thing.
Could always run from a browser but an application I could set to open on startup would be far better.

Ordered anyway, seems like a bit of a bargain.

Ordered. Thanks. Fingers crossed. Heat!

Where does it say it reliably charges the tablet and connects USB peripherals at the same time? ;)
The battery life is about 4h, the charge time on 0.9A will be longer than that. It does say full power charging when the PC (tablet in this case) is off.
They both do fast charging.

The 12V 4A power adapter that comes with both hubs means that there's enough power to charge the tablet while also having all connected USB devices function as you'd expect.

yoyozen has confirmed that this one works too, so that would be the recommended one. It just looks a bit ugly compared to the others.

Thanks OP, gone for the linx 10 at £79.98 hopefully it gets honoured. Would this also be eligible for the £30/£50 cashback as staples are an approved retailer - https://tablettradeup.com/uk/en/pages/linx/qualifying making it a better deal if you can snag a cheap tablet from ebay or somewhere.
#23
Absolutely fantastic deal...

Anyone found a suitable case yet?
#24
It's quite funny the people who are assuming this is going to be honoured, but hopefully it is. I already have the 7 and love it so I got the 8 and 10 this time and will try both and probably end up selling the 7 and giving either the 8 or 10 away for xmas.

I'll also be selling the office licence it comes with to drive the price down even cheaper.

Lets pray they don't cancel this, as it's a bit of a ridiculous discount really.

I find 10" tablets cumbersome. I guess it depends on what you use them for.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of this. I don't know if to try anyway just in case it's honored, but I very much doubt they will be. I don't really need another Linx 8 though and I wouldn't really want the Linx 10 since I've already got a netbook that would work much better (minus touch).

I think I'll check back at 9am to see if the prices are the same or if everyone got a cancellation email.

Here's a question for anyone who's ordered one. Has Staples taken your money yet?

Order Acknowledgement
Thank you for placing your order with Staples. This e-mail is to acknowledge that we have received your order.
If your payment method for this order was Credit or Debit Card then please be aware that your bank has provided a payment authorisation, however until your order has been accepted and processed by us please be assured that no monies will be taken from your account.

Does seem to be a hold on my cash for 2 x 8 inch tabs. Which is bad, as I wanted one, but got an error page trying to order, so tried twice xD.

Thought I'd look for a review, found this: http://www.forbes.com/sites/ewanspence/2014/12/15/linx-8-windows-8-tablet-review/
All I got from it was don't buy the Linx 8, buy an iPad.

As I suspected then. They'll be able to cancel it easily if someone notices the error.

It's a little odd that the Linx tablets have been doing well here at HUKD and now Staples have lowered the prices by a crazy amount. Maybe it's deliberate and they was counting on it being posted here so that they get more website traffic, right before they cancel the orders :{

That reviewer isn't really fair to compare it to an iPad which is more than double the price. He seems a little harsh on the battery life too, but maybe he had the brightness cranked up to it's maximum. It should be able to do 5 hours with the brightness set to low, which isn't amazing, but it's better than some laptops.

I really don't think the money not being taken out changes anything. If they're going to cancel it, they will.

It's just easier for them to cancel orders and not have to deal with refunds. I don't think their order system is automated so that it runs through the night though. I could be wrong, but their live chat is closed until 9am anyway. So if anyone does get through to the next stage then I'm sure we'd all like to know.

Looks like an awful lot of orders to cancel as it's now sold out.

Wishful thinking, they could have had a small number of tablets to sell at that price. Linx 10 is sold out too. Least now I don't need to worry about choosing between the 8 and 10 :)

Ordered 2 10" as Xmas gifts

I'd bet that someone ordered 5+ of the 10" ones and if it's honored you'll see them on eBay shortly for close to the normal price. Easily a £50 profit per tablet.
