Luckily I live 200 yards away from a park that does a fantastic display every year and its free.
Not voted either way but I'm sure the effort will be appreciated by people who like to watch their money go up in smoke. ;)

You clearly enjoy watching fireworks so dont know why you have such scorn for ppl who buy them? we bought a £10 box last year and it lasted about an hour, my 3 kids had so much fun telling daddy to run after he'd lit the fireworks, worth £10 just for the memories.
Fab post btw, maybe not a 'deal' as such but its nice to have all the prices in 1 place.

ok to put it another way which of this lot are more reliable ?

No I don't know what you mean, hence why I asked you to define your meaning of 'safe'....

But if its any help I've used Lidl fireworks for several years without mishap*, normally buy a mixed box, pack of large rockets and 1 of the multiple shot ones they have, normally keep that for last.

*expect the rocket that had the stick broken, didn't think it would matter, NOT advised, if the stick is broken on a rocket don't use, it goes haywire, would have been good had I videoed it for You've been framed though..luckily no damage was done though..

All of the fireworks above adhere to the BS7114 so all of them should be reliable :)

Heat and thanks to the OP for time and effort put in.

Any ideas why the 'Blasting Barrel' from Lidle doesn't have a 'shot count' ? lasts 2-3 minutes but no shot count ?

FWIW I've always been very impressed by LIDL's offerings, even if they *are* indirectly responsible for our neighbourhood being like Beirut for a couple of weeks a year - the only thing that puzzles me is how many people really do have a garden big enough for a 25m exclusion zone for 'display' grade fireworks.

Well researched op, and deserves to be hot on that account alone.

Use below, if buying fireworks+groceries from Morrisons over £60

Simply cut out the coupon in today’s Daily Mirror (70p) and spend £60 or more in one single transaction at your local Morrisons before Sunday 21st October.

I really think that fireworks should not be available to members of the public. The safest way to watch fireworks is at an organised public display, where there are staff trained to deal with any incidents. This would also mean the Fire & Rescue service would have less 'out of control' bonfires to put out, and the A&E department would have less burn injuries to deal with.

The Lidl ones are the pick of the supermarket ones.

In general I don't like supermarket fireworks. The prices are hugely inflated so that they can do BOGOF etc... Why would you want 2 selection boxes that are exactly the same?!?

I'll be making my annual pilgrimage to Epic Fireworks again this year. I'd implore you all to do the same or at least visit your local year round specialist. They'll be able to tell you what's suitable for you and how to store them safely.

Completely agree! Cooking should also be left to the professional chefs also, in case people cut or burn themselves. In addition, I do not think the common person should be allowed to do any gardening in case they graze themselves. In fact, people should not be allowed to leave their houses for fear of doing something dangerous.

so who does the safest fireworks out of this lot?

I like the Weco Firefighter (LIDL) £10 for 86 shots. It always looks amazing and has the advantage that lighting one thing has to be a lot safer than lighting 86 different fireworks!

MANY THX TO OP - much heat and respect!!!

Just go late on bonfire night to your local stockists and haggle. You will get them pretty much half price or get loads thrown in free if you are spending enough.

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY FIREWORKS!!
At a group gathering last year that was well policed for safety distances etc my son was blinded in one eye by a rougue firework from one of those multi boxes. We spent days in A & E were dads who had been in gardens setting off fireworks had serious injuries, one had just looked up to watch them explode in the sky and a rocket went into his eye.
Go to organised events in big spaces or watch from inside.
BE SAFE
