I love CEX as a shop, but I really don't think I'd trust the quality of the online store. I mean I've seen some really battered sleaves on boxsets (something I often buy) in the shop, but I can pick and choose there. Have you ordered online before? I just worried I'd get the crap condition items that the shops can't shift.

Even though they source their stock direct from store[s], the one or two times i've bought from the website (both Blu Ray's), it's turned up in very good condition; which may of just been pot-luck, or maybe they're careful/selective over what they do send out through the post courtesy of fulfilling website orders. Either way, i've not been disappointed thus far :)

RE: the deal, even for second-hand, the prices aren't too shabby for some of those listed!

Yeah they look pretty good. I still buy DVDs though. It's the card sleaves and boxes (on a lots of DVDs) that I reckon I'd have issues with the condition of. Maybe I'll take a risk with some of the free Quidco money that should hit my paypal account at the start of the month.

hi folks,

been a member here for a while so i'm not just joining up to say CeX are great or anything like that. Just wanna point out some facts as I work for CeX doing online orders in one of the stores. Anything I say after this is what I do and does not apply to the other stores that are ecom stores.

When a customer orders something from our store, I generally try to pick the best quality one as its easier for a customer to return something in store than it is online. If a customer picks up a broken case and wants to return it later or swap it, its much easier.. whereas if I send you a broken case and you want to return it, you need to send it back, wait for a replacement/refund and that can take up to a week. As I said though, that is how I do it, I can tell you for a fact that other stores are LAZY and useless so it depends on what store supplies your order.. I cant guarantee you'll get a good condition item as most stores are run differently.

One problem however is that if there is only one of the item in stock then I'll send you that one. Obviously if you are unhappy with the condition then send an email to ecom central and they can try and sort something out.

In terms of blu-rays, 99% of the blu-rays in our store are great. Cases are in good condition and discs are nearly always mint.. unlike games, most people who buy blu-rays actually have the mentality to take care of their stuff. You wouldnt even believe the state of some games people try to trade in.. its awful.

but yeah, just thought i'd post a couple of answers for anyone who is unsure about ordering :)

i ordered a VGA cable and a dvd, the VGA cable turned up 2 weeks later, the dvd hasn't arrived yet.....it's been a year.

al-animal: the ecom shops were a bit of a shambles in the past but we are improving. The staff at ecom central are trying their best to stay on top of everything by staying in constant communication with us in the shops but as I said, some of the other shops are just lazy idiots and ignore the emails/calls asking to sort out the orders :(

i have had one order out of about 20 orders with cex.co.uk, where I hadn't received the blu ray. I emailed them a month after the order was placed and within 4-5 days of my email the blu ray turned up in pristine condition.

whatever you do dont pay with paypal!!! Well, at least when there is only 1 item in stock - i have done so and am still waiting for my £24 after i got an email saying they no longer had any in stock - they havent updated their systems and therefore are in a shambles as paypal take the money instantly (whereas with card payments they never took money till dispatched).
Also I have ordered things in the past and got the sequel instead, even got crash bandicoot 3 in a crash bandicoot 1 box the other week (i had ordered the first).
Discs can also be really REALLY bad, have had several games that refused to work and had to send back.

However, probably about 85% of the time my orders have been fine, and about 40% of them perfect condition as well.... but the price is so cheap i keep coming back, most of my hd dvds came from cex as they have loads under £3! They appear to have really reduced blu ray prices recently too which is good (although not when trading in)

On another note - is the x-files movie really that bad?

Implementing paypal is quite a new thing and I dont think they've figued it all out yet in terms of automatic refunding and stuff. The reason for getting an email saying no longer in stock is because if you order a blu-ray and I say "Yeah its here and ready to be shipped" and then a 2nd person orders it, its already on hold for you so the 2nd person gets told we've got none in stock. as the one we've got is ready to make its way down to you :)

Dont buy online i swear to god you can get maybe a good price for some things but who knows the condition. Even in store they have mashed up DVD boxsert's at an OK price but awful condition. Even me I have traded in damaged games and they are none the wiser.

If you want something from CEX your better off going to the store to buy it. 8/10 times (online purchase) I have recieved a product of high quality, but 2 of the 10 times I have ordered the good has been faulty when used or is in poor condition

Just thought I'd let people know that I ordered a blu-ray from CEX on Friday - £4 for Extras: The Specials.

It was dispatched on Saturday and received today. Excellent condition... I'll definitely be using the online service again. Paid by Paypal too so great way to use some funds burning a hole in my virtual pocket

i wish you hadnt put this down here, now i cant get all my cheap blurays lol - ive been using cex for years and in the past 6 months have gotten loads of bluray bargains. it wasnt really that well known so this will make it harder.

i wanted the extras special on bluray, i was hoping id grab it but there you go. i did get horton hears a who ordered for £6 and i think its all sorted, just waiting for despatch.

the paypal thing - i totally forgot about that! ive made a few orders via paypal, i just hope they were the complete orders. might have a quick look through to see if im owed any money back.

Erm, some of the Blu Rays in your description have the exchange prices rather than their actual prices.

e.g. X-Files I want to Believe and 40 Year Old Virgin is actually £10 to buy and £6 exchange.

Don't have the time to sift through them all, but just thought I'd let you know. If I've somehow misread the post, sorry!

Nope. I should be sorry. Didn't notice the date of the post. I should remember how often CeX change their prices seeing as I worked there, printing out hundreds of labels in the morning to reflect price changes. :(

Voting hot.

I have to say I'm at aloss as to think why I would possibly pay more than £3 or at the most £4 for a second hand disc... But that said blockbusters sell the same kind of stuff for twice the price and someone buys it...
