This item is perfect for Netbooks, being USB powered, super light weight, conveniently top loading, ideal to fit in your netbook bag for travelling.

With battery life and screen resolution being an issue on cheap Portable DVD Players, this item would be suitable to double up your netbook as a Portable DVD Player in its own right.

Same price at Amazon.co.uk delivered, everywhere else its over £40 so is a really good deal, cheap no name External DVD Writers go on Ebay from anything £35+, so a branded product like this for £39.99 to collect in store seems a really good deal.

Also if you buy online you currently get a free tap colour filter worth £14.99.

Offer valid until 23/03/2010

Yeah, Lite-on do the two colours, but Maplin only stock the white, which actually I think looks better, not a fingerprint magnet.

You might find getting to PC World is easier where it is the same price:

Not a particularly good deal since PC World are selling the same thing at the same price (but no vouchers). Nevertheless, just what I want so yes, a good find. I've booked one for collection.

Thanks.

BTW At PCword the Black one is £5 more expensive.

Without wanting to sound completely stupid... is there anyway that this can be plugged into the USB port of a Sky HD box to copy stuff onto it? I guess the problem would be how they system could be used to tell it what to copy, but just thought I'd ask!

You answered your own question really. Unless the sky box has software that is aware of what you plugged in then no. It's a service usb port as far as I know and don't think anyone has anything else running from it whilst sky software is installed.

You would need a proper DVD Recorder and feed the signal through it, via Scart to scart.

This was £29.99 when I last added it to my Amazon wishlist.

Poorly researched. Take out the gloves and scarves people.

Easy mistake to make a (say in broken Italian)
#29
Was just about to say different products as well. Still £29.99 is good price if you want to add a dvd player capability to your nettop media pc (aspire revo) or for easy installation of some software but if you want to burn anything you'll need to spend £39.99.

Lol ' I don't think we did it to be rude. well I know I did not

I considered the Samsung one, but the Lite-On got better reviews and I think looks nicer personally. I do have free Scan shipping but liked the fact I could just pick this one up in store for cheaper than places online have it for.
