LiteOn iHOS104 Blu-Ray player SATA - OEM Black

Doesn't look like it records to anything (not even CDs), but if you already have a DVD writer and want a blu ray read-only drive then this seems like a bargain to me.

Remember to select ebuyer's free super-saver delivery to get it for this price.

Looks like it might be today only. 355 in stock at time of posting.

When I first read this I though that was unlikely.

But looking at the LiteON web site it seems you are right, seems it only READS CD, DVD and Blu Ray.

Indeed, didn't realise it was free delivery. The Samsung is also a retail drive so will come with Power DVD software to play the blu-ray, this drive is OEM and will not.

so the Dabs Samsung actually writes to bluray's also ?

AVOID AVOID AVOID

I bought a Liteon dvd recorder that was supose to do everything.

From day one there was a green tinge on playback, it eventually stopped altogether after about 12 months.

You have been warned.

COLD at any price.

retail means you get packing you dont need, software you can get free...so the problem is?

indeed it is £46.99 with free delivery, nice price. Just £5 more than this crap drive.

I made a new thread for it: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/707453/samsung-sh-b083l-8x-bluray-rom-dvd-

Has anyone seen a decently priced slimline blu ray player. I've been looking for one to go in my Asrock Ion 330 HTPC.

That has to be a problem with software or the media or the player rather than the drive.

I seriously doubt the drive had a persistant fault that reliably re-encoded the video stream for every video disc to include a green tint - unless it was the matrix you were watching.

Ive had several lite-on drives in my time, including a £40 dvd-rom that blew £150 plextor SCSI readers out of the water....

Ahh didn't notice that, still no software which is worth the extra since it'll be Power DVD and it isn't free software.

Ordered one. Installed very easily. My case didn't need the mounting screws. My PSU had loads of spare power cables coming out of it. And I had two free SATA inputs on the motherboard. So just slotted it in my case, connected power and SATA cables then powered it up. Worked first time and was plug and play on Windows 7. Cyberlink 8 is supplied which plays my blu rays fine. You need to patch it on first run of Cyberlink.

So very happy. I recommend you buy for £41.99 delivered. I can now access digital copies of blu rays supplied with my purchases.

If you did opt for the burnable blu ray Samsung drive in other postings, then the Cyberlink software (v9) can be obtained very cheaply from places like:

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/home/product/42691/Cyber-Link-Power-DVD-Version-9-OEM?source=googleps

Please note this player is not a burner. Just a player. That suited my needs exactly. And for £40 you can't go wrong.
