Little Big Planet 2 Collectors Edition £44.99 @ Game (and Gamestation)
I've been keeping an eye out for this as my kids are addicted to the first one.
This seems like a good price for the Collector's Edition, especially as the standard edition seems to be around the £38 mark.
6% quidco too.
I did a search on here before posting...not that it means anything ;)

It was OK when everyone was charging £38-£40 to pay an extra £5-£7 but now that LBP2 is £30 not such a good deal.
I will still pay the £45 but for £30 you have £15 to buy the DLC
Have a look at the US Collector's Edition, to see what we are missing out on (book ends and plush figure):

Why compare to the US or EU copies - we don't live there
As regards £30 for LBP2, where?
Gameplay £37.99
Play £39.99
Game £37.98
Shopto £38.86
Game Collection £36.99
Amazon £39.90
Sorry for the rant, but this is taking the mic
Don't get me wrong LBP2 is a day one purchase, but I hope people see sense and avoid this collector's edition like the plague. Voted cold purely for the idea of paying £15 extra for a few extra costumes when the yanks get is so much better.

It was £30 pre order at bee.com last week. No longer available at that price tho.
So a deal that is no longer available makes this not worth the extra £7 or so over the standard price?
Silly me!
As for the US Edition, as nice as it would have been having the book ends, if you really want Plushies and DLC then there is Play.com for plushies and PSN for DLC....by the end of the year all the DLC that comes with the collectors edition here will no doubt be included in a "game of the year" edition.
If the "book ends" or "steelbook case" are attractive propositions then go for importing the US Version or buying the EU special edition, anything else is not really going to be "collectible" plushies or DLC.
1. if you bought it cheaper previously then great, but is that deal still available? No?
2. you don't like the content? That's your opinion and you can import if you like
3. the DLC will all be free/cheap eventually? Maybe or maybe not. You don't know that and even if it is, how is that relevant if it is in the future?
4. how does this price compare to the stabdard edition?
I'm amazed at the negative reponses against this, I really am

Why? A lot of people don't consider the £7 price difference for what you get (very little) worth it? Get over it!
Main reasons I guess is in spite of Sony releasing a poor EU edition, whether a "good price" or not, what you get is very little, and I guess people feel its not worth the extra £7 over the standard edition at current prices.
Clearly the negative votes on here are saying that regardless of it being a good price in your opinion for the EU Collectors edition, fans of the game don't feel it is worth the extra cash for little content...simple.

Why compare to the US or EU copies - we don't live there
What are you on about?
If it's a poor product (which, in many people's opinions, it is) then even if you can't get it cheaper elsewhere it doesn't automatically make it good value (and therefore a good deal).
Get over it.

Got me second guessing, someone must have edited Wikipedia wrong to say we do!

Erm, we are definately living in the EU (unless I missed a memo)
As for the deal - don't take it so personally. :)

Precisely, this steelbook edition should have been released at the same price as the regular edition as a limited run, not have a price hike up. Some previous steelbook editions of games have been to help initial sales..the DLC seriously costs nothing to Sony, and with no collectible figurines or anything there is little value for extra cost other than an aluminium clip case to house the Blu Ray Disk in!

I think you're wrong. Good value isn't needed for a good deal.
If I posted a deal with £20k off a new Ferrari, by your ruling it wouldn't be a good deal as you can get a faster / more comfy / better build / more frugal / better residual value etc car for much less.
For a deal to be good, I reckon you need..
The cheapest price for a particular item, or suitable alternative with quality on a par with the original, or a bundle representing this.
In this case, either:
This is the cheapest you can get the rarer Collectors Edition that has some extra stuff ie, the deal is good. - ok so it's only available from 1 company!
Or
You look for a suitable alternative, ie best deal of £36.99 from thegamecollection + some PSN credit for the DLC (in this case, the compromise is £8 saving vs. the small amount of extras and limited availability of the CE - is this a suitable alternative...?)
All this talk of US editions (not the same product and useless to UK ps3 owners)
buying stuffed toys (different product!?)
and DLC being free in the future (this would make most game deals rubbish as, well, LBP2 will 100% certainly become a platinum game, which will cost only £14.99....)
Personally, as a games collector, a regular edition isn't a great alternative for a CE, especially with only £8 difference.
In this particular case, i'll hold off as i'm sure the CE will be available for less once the GAME group realise they have loads of them left.
I'm nto taking the criticism personally but it annoyes me that the comments aren't really about the deal itself more about people's feeling towards the bundle in comparison to what others get or what they would like to get.
I am happy to pay the extra over the standard edition because at the moment I feel it is a decent (not amazing or great) deal for the price and in comparison to RRP.
I also agree that there may be a price drop in the future for the CE, but that's just speculation...

Your argument there includes one car against a totally different car!...would be more understandable if you were comparing one cars different specifications within a range!
With regard to the US edition, why is it useless to UK Owners? PS3 games are region free, only problem being is the DLC for a US edition of LBP would have to be bought from the US PSN Marketplace, therefore you would need to set up a US Account (easy enough)
Clearly the amount of negative votes about this suggest that you are in a minority of what constitutes a deal, this as a collectors edition offers poor value for its extra £7 and you only have to look at a lot of steelbook editions second hand at CEX to find there is little extra value in such over regular editions.
