Classic comedy, Little Shop Of Horrors only £1.00 delivered

ITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is one of the first and finest black comedies ever made and has become a cinematic classic. The little shop of horrors is a flower shop located in the unlikely vicinity of Skid Row. The film tells the story of Seymour Krelboin (Jonathan Haze) who works in the flower shop and is in love with Audrey (Jackie Joseph) who is dating the sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello. Orin also treats a pain loving dental patient played by the irrepressible Jack Nicholson. Seymour acquires a new plant and names it Audrey II after the love of his life. Alas the plant needs human flesh and blood to survive - it also talks - consistently screeching Feed Me! Feeeeed Me! Seymour is desperate in his ever more frenzied search to find food for Audrey II.

... but when the plant blossoms, to Seymour's horror, the flowers are the faces of it's victims and the evidence of the 'human meals' it has eaten.

It's a good deal, but beware guys - this isn't the 80's remake that you might be thinking of. This is the Roger Corman version, which is still very good I hasten to add.

it would be a better film if there wasnt so much singing....

I've never seen this version, only the Rick Moranis one but it looks good so I've ordered it and anything with Jack Nicholson is worth a look

synopsis

Jan 2002

Poor Seymour Krelborn (Rick Moranis) is a downtrodden geek who never has things go his way. He works in Mr Mushnik's (Vincent Gardenia) run-down flower shop in the seedy part of town, thanklessly doing menial tasks and secretly dreaming of buxom, shrill-voiced shop assistant Audrey (Ellen Greene).
His other passion, collecting strange plants, leads him to bring home a small flytrap which he discovers following a solar eclipse and names Audrey II. While nurturing Audrey II (voiced by The Four Tops' Levi Stubbs) Seymour discovers some of the plant's unique features: it is in fact a “Mean Green Mother From Outer Space” that talks, sings and survives on a diet of human blood! Needing a regular source of Audrey II's favourite food, Seymour embarks on a plan to kill Audrey's boyfriend, the sadistic, motorbike-riding, nitrous-oxide addict dentist Orin Scrivello (Steve Martin) which would also leave the way clear for Seymour and Audrey's love to bloom. But will this be enough tosatisfy the plant's lust for blood, or must Seymour take more drastic measures?

On this subject - anyone know if there is any version of the 80s film which includes the alternative ending where Audrey wins - I've seen the ending, but my friends don't believe me the original ending was Audrey taking over the planet.

Indeed this was the case - quoted from IMDB... "In the original ending, faithful to the stage version both Seymour and Audrey were killed by Audrey 2. Subsequent scenes showed the plants, grown to enormous size, taking over New York (King-Kong style) and the world. The ending included a new musical number, titled "Don't Feed the Plants". After sneak preview audiences hated this ending, it was replaced with the happy one that's included in all released theatrical/home video versions. The alternate ending has been included in a special DVD edition with commentary by directory Frank Oz. This additional material is 23 minutes long and is shown in a rough cut form, in black & white, with many sound and musical effects missing. However producer David Geffen retained the rights to the alternate ending, and reportedly he did not give permission for its inclusion on the DVD disc; in February 1998 he had Warner Bros. issue a recall of the DVD version, which is now very rare."

You're welcome - at least the YouTube.com should help you convince your friends (and yourself!!) that you haven't lost your marbles and imagined the whole thing!!! :?

This one is definitely the original with Jack Nicholson - Streets online is the same company as Woolworths, I believe, and I saw this film in store at Woolworths yesterday for £1 in their current price crash promotion. Also had Nacho Libre for £4.

When I'm at the card details page it looks secure - got the https address and have a "locked" icon at the bottom of Firefox. Am I missing something I should be worried about??? :-(

I've used StreetsOnline for quite a few years and you should be able to log in there with your Woolworth details too :)
