This new thin handle is really not great, we had to return ours to amazon as it snapped. Before this one we had the older version trike with first and it lasted 3 years of regular use!

trikes themselves are great but go for thick handles ones than folds down too as this one doesn't

We bought one of these for our little one a while back and although the price posted is a deal, I wouldn't recommend it.

For younger children (our son has had it since he was 1 year old and is now 18 months), it has a foot plate. In my opinion, this is very dangerous. The positioning of this foot plate cannot be altered and because it's so small, our little one's feet have, on many, many occasions, come off the plate and become trapped between the plate and the ground. So much so in fact that on one occasion it actually took the rubber toe protector off his shoes (good quality Startrites!). He is extremely lucky that he didn't end up with a broken ankle.

We do still use it although once in a blue moon because of the issues noted above, but have to watch his feet like a hawk and drive unnecessarily slowly. It is not well designed at all - which is surprising because we have a lot of Little Tikes stuff and have always found it to be good.

I also agree with AnnaMak's review that the handle is flimsy - there is tonnes of play in it and I'm sure that before long, it will also break. A shame really, because to look at it, it seems well enough built.

I am petty sure that foot plates/ pedals can be folder up so their feet just dangle?

description says footrests fold away and detach...

We have the primary colour version of this and love it, we've folded the footplate up as out sons feet got caught between the footplate and the pedal but the instructions do say the footplate should only be used up to 12months.

Just ordered for my son. Only months atm. For £35 it doesn't matter if it only lasts a year! bargain!

brilliant just ordered, had been looking for one for my son, thanks for sharing :-)

sb123 and AnnaMak - which one would you recommend?
#15
I have the smart trike and it's really good, top quality. this looks a bit cheap so i'd rather pay the extra and get a smart trike if I were you

I'm not really sure to be honest, Jinder. We bought a cheaper trike from eBay for our first child and it was miles better, because it had a full sized foot plate.

We have the Deluxe Sports Version (LOL!!) in red but it looks the same as the one the OP posted

I realise that the footrests fold away, but where are his feet supposed to go? It's a bad design - even at 18 months they're not old enough or tall enough (and my son is very tall for his age) to be able to have their little feet on the pedals. Therefore footrests or not, their feet will either have to sit on the footrests or dangle - both of which result in their feet either catching on the pedals or smacking off the ground and being dragged backwards.

Thanks for taking the time to share your info Sb123 - looking more closely at it I can see that plate looks a nightmare. Was just about to by it but may try my son with a few different ones in the shop first before I just hastily buy a cheap one. Great info :0)

This is the trike with handle I meant.

doesn't mean it is best price for it btw.

this one lasted us for 3 years.

for 2nd baby we got one with thin handle and it snapped and trike tipped over, luckily our son wasn't hurt
i emailed amazon and they refunded same day.

Depending on the age of your child, look at balance bikes!
Even though we got offered replacement trike we decided as he is coming up to 2 year old we will opt for a balance bike instead, suitable

Thanks - ordered! Was going to pay £100 for a smart trike, knowing it will only last a few months anyway (my eldest never used it as a normal trike) so this is a much more reasonable price!

Dangerous handle . My son was badly injured at 20 months

HOT - ordered... obviously little one will be supervised to ensure no injuries, if this is a chepo model....
