Review

LittleBigPlanet is a unique community-based game with a hugely innovative concept behind it. Players meet on a blue and green planet scattered with individual plots - and use their character's amazing abilities to play, create and share what they build with other gamers throughout the world via PlayStation Network.

The LittleBigPlanet experience starts with players learning about their character's powers to interact physically with the environment. There are places to explore, creative resources to collect and puzzles to solve - all requiring a combination of brains and collaborative teamwork. As soon as players begin their creative skills will grow and they will soon be ready to start creating and modifying their surroundings - the first step to sharing them with the whole community.

Characters have the power to move anything in this glued and stitched-together 3D landscape; they have the power to design, shape and build both objects and entire locations for others to view and play. There's no complicated level editor; all of these skills can be learned by simply playing the game. Creativity is part of the gameplay experience and playing is part of the creative experience. Players can make their world as open or as secretive to explore as they like. When it's ready, they can invite anyone within the LittleBigPlanet community to come and explore their patch - or can go and explore everybody else's.

It's a little late for Sony Europe to be releasing this version now as it was out in the US last year. Still though it seems like a good deal.

Hugely overrated game imho. Wasn't it down to around a tenner not long after launch?

Some love it, some hate it. Personally me and the boy (4) love it!! Your right though it was alot cheaper than this but not the GOTY version.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I know it's well loved and I have friends who liked it but it wasn't my cup of tea.

Just in time for "The Incredibles" themed downloadable content available from 8 April 2010.

Did you buy a PS3 console solely for "LittleBigWasteOfTime"?

I think you'll find this happens a lot with European releases.

For example, most recently, with the "God of War Collection".

Actually the american version came out almost a year ago, and it only included Most dlc up untill that time. Since then this game has had more dlc than a london call girl has had enounters with strange men. I would just like to know - Does this version have more DLC than the american version? or is it the same? Because saying that, it would still be missing a lot.

will the game saves form LBP work with the GOTY edition?

"Almost a year ago"? It came out in September. So to you, 7 months and 12 months are almost the same?
I'm not sure if it has more DLC cos the websites I've seen this on only mention the ones from the US version but they also say that more info will come soon

Good point.

i played this thinking it was an over-rated kids game but thinking about other games, ive never played another platformer even half as good as LBP.
but i wont bother getting this edition since theres newer games to be had at this price.

This really is a fantastic game, imo.
It really is unique, the main game itself is worth the money.
The community levels are superb, great multiplayer. I understand it's not for everyone, but I gave it a chance and never regretted it, yeah it's sometimes a bit fiddly and it requires hours of your time, but hey we'd be moaning if you could finish it in 5 hours.
There's nothing like it on any system. Looking forward to ModNation Racers which is similar, but Kart racing, loved the beta.
Plus, Sackboy rocks!!!

oooppps, sorry my pic was a little too big, forgot to resize!

Yes it should do. The only difference with this version is the packaging and the added DLC. The game itself is the same.

cracking article, i assumed with that title you weren't a fan. But it appears that you and your children (and their friends) are all Sackboy/girl fans.
I encourage you to do the level creation tutorials, if only for the hilarious Stephen Fry voiceovers.
p.s. start off simple, and work your way up, not the other way around (like I did )
