Thanks for the tip mrsdoone :) Will stock up on some of the kiddies vitamins

I find natural alternatives such as fish, apples, oranges, all types of veg, etc... much cheaper alternatives to rip-off medicines!
[mod]#3
Well I think you'll find most people include these in thier diet horsepills, and take supplements, especially coming into the winter time.

Kiddies especially are prone to so much from when they start school ......

i also agree....

a healthy balanced diet Should provide all of the required nutrients and vitamins that a child needs....this coupled with correct levels of exercise and sleep should keep you and your child healthy as ever.

however, in todays world, where microwave meals take place of a hearty pot of soup on the stove, and a playstation takes the place of endless summer days spend kicking a football.....some children may have a lack of certain vitamins......the problem occurs when people use vitamin supplements as an ALTERNATIVE to a balanced diet.....

if, for any reason, you are unable to eat a certain foodgroup, that holds single vitamins not common with other foods....then supplements could be a alternative.....

i have a freind whose mother threw pills at him from every angle when he was young....s johns wart for this, vit c for that...bit of this, bit of that..........and he is now an underactive blob, with "low metabolism" i wonder why.............

Just my POV.....good deals to be had here though.

I concur with the above: there is no need at all to fund the multi billion pound supplement industry.
The scientific evidence shows that people who take vitamin supplements have no health benefit, and,in 2 cases (vitamin A and E), die younger than those who dont take them
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article3754205.ece (laymans terms)
http://www.cochrane.org/reviews/en/ab007176.html (the research itself)
The pill-peddlers wont like me pointing this study out to you:
http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2008-09/tsb-vof092408.php
it shows that kids get enough vitamins from their everyday diets- despite what Jamie Oliver and the Daily Mail tell you.
Vitamin pills, because they are packaged as 'food supplements' dont have to go through rigorous safety trials like medicines do.
Ignore the science if you want though.
p.s. Chondroitin/Glucosamine doesnt do anything for joint pain/arthritis- your vet saw you coming and thought he'd make a few quid out fo you! Sorry

Anyone could give a direct link of Eye Q? I can't find it.

Are you qualified to make this comment? Did you do the 7 years training to become a vet? have you ever seen research saying the opposite to the links you put up there? Cos its out there! I can give you a link to counter act any link you send, after all this is the internet! NEVER tell someone that they shouldnt take something that has been prescribed for them (or their pet) unless you are qualified to do so. Next time you could say "(in my opinion)", instead of stating an incorrect fact.
Ok I think I am calming down now lol ........... good link if you take vits, voted hot

You know better than the NIH?

Thats the best study in the literature at present. Heres an excerpt:
No statistically significant improvement in knee pain compared to placebo was seen among patients randomized to the dietary supplements
As I said, the vet saw you coming, mate!

Anyone could give a direct link of Eye Q? I can't find it.

Is this the eyeQ link you mean?
http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/adjudications/Public/TF_ADJ_43685.htm
This is the link where the Advertising Standards Authority haul Equazen over the coals for the claims:
"... may help maintain concentration levels and healthy brain development", "the Clever Capsule"Scientifically tested in schools", "proven in schools" and "proven by Science" from future advertising for eye q. We also told them to avoid implying in future that the advertised product could benefit the general population or that a trials results related to a product with exactly the same composition and dosage as the advertised product if that was not the case.
EyeQ is a complete con from start to finish, [email protected] who buys it

blah blah blah....proven in science....proven in schools....

give the suckers a plate of beef stew, maybe some trout, and some liver once a week......and they'll be bright as ever........
