Me either. Very reliable retailer.

Got forgetting Sarah Marshall and Harold and Kuma get the munchies for £2.99 each, could have saved 2p on amazon but i'm feeling wild!!!

Big Daddy is great

Play use to be great but wait till you get a problem, ie wrong order sent then try and get it resolved, nightmare.
Recently had the wrong item sent to me, returned, wrong item sent again, appaling customer services on the phone, virtually unintelligable, promised email to resolove and 3 days later nothing.
This experience along with waiting for weeks to get orders delivered etc has put play from my top list to 'never use again list'.
Just my opinion of course:whistling:

If you MUST badmouth a company, at least have the decency to state your reason for doing so! :x

I have used Play for all manner of stuff and have been more than happy with both their prices and speed of delivery.

Now is your chance to say what your beef with them actually is ...

There is a great movie there, Anchorman of course.

One of the funniest films I've seen and never gets old.

Also been a regular at Play for many years, and never once had a reason to complain. However, their never ending "sales" are often rather disappointing. The only decent movie mentioned, in my opinion, would have to be Anchorman. :)

Jeez! HUD gets more like the lion's den every day. I wonder how many deals we miss out on because people can't be bothered with the flak.

There are loads of great films on offer here. In the list the OP provides there's "A Fish Called Wanda". Also, "Air Force One" is very entertaining. In the full list on Play there's "Dr. Strangelove", "Fargo", "Highlander", "Withnail and I", and many more.

Thanks for posting.

I've had a few problems with Play, but i do order a lot of stuff from them: Damaged items is my biggest problem but the customer service at play is really good.
#20
I dont think Bratz: The Movie counts.

Who are you trying to kid when you say great movies? There are about 3 alright movies, the rest are absolutely ****.
#21
so, apart from the words "loads" and "great", what else is wrong with the thread title ?
#22
I have ordered lots of books and games from Play in the past, and have never had a problem.
The only issue I have with them is they no longer have a general email address to get in touch with them. They used to, but it no longer exists. The only way to get in touch with them if you have a query is to phone them.
#23
Must admit i have had the occasional wrong item sent , once was a ps3 game instead of a wii one - sold it on flea bay and made a profit , and another time got sent wrong software that wasn't worth flea baying and got hold of customer services and sent it back no bother, no cost to me . Other than that used them for 8-9 years and been well happy with them.:thumbsup:

I agree with cycleman Play are not as good as they used to be.Okay for Dvd's and Blu-Rays in Amaray cases but wouldn't use them for anything else as there packing is atrocious!
Got fed up with sending every other order back to them because it was damaged!
Their customer service is not what it used to be either!
Just my experience with them!

the customer service at play is really good.

In my experience Play.com have the absolute worst customer service that I have ever had the misfortune to come across. Awful. Pitiful. Abysmal. Expect a slow response - if indeed they bother to respond at all (they probably won't)... and all the while you wonder how the hell they won awards for - you've guessed it - customer service!!! That they won any awards absolutely beggars belief to be honest.

They are I'm afraid a company I will now only use as a last resort. Once bitten, twice shy!!

Here's a working email address for Play.com.

Having used it, I can confirm it is monitored.

For my two pence Play are not as good as they used to be, their despatch often takes 2 or 3 days whereas Amazon or HMV will send it within 24 hours and as Play offers no price advantage i choose to take my business elsewhere.
#27
Never had a problem with Play the deal is hot.
#28
I order from Play regulary and feel their service has degraded from what it was a couple of years ago, but that doesn't mean I won't order from them again. Their packaging and dispatch times are my hates. A standard jiffy bag for SteelBooks and sleeved DVDs is just not good enough.
#29
Play is one of the few decent companies about. A few issues with packaging that they rectify but aside from that at least you know you'll get what you order, unlike the little companies like CDWOW that are absolutely terrible all round.

One of the most unfunniest films I've ever watched. They obviously missed the 'w' off the beginning of the film's title. :-D

I used to love play, i can remember back to when play just started on the net, they just done dvd and cd's.
Their website was in such infancy at the time, they used to send you a mail order catalouge once a month with the new releases. ( can you imagine that these days)!
BUT here was the hook....
They USED to be CHEAP!!
They were at the forefront with items being delivered for FREE, unheard of in the online world at that time (all the new dvds priced at £17.99 a penny under the import tax of £18), while amazon had a £19 min order for free p&p.
I used to be happy to give play my money for the latest games that had as much as £10 of the rrp, usually most new games were £29.99.
They are so HUGE these days they just charge the RRP for games, almost all their new titles come in at the £39.99 mark, they have the public masses attention now, and are the first listing in the results when you google them.
They have def got lazy as of latley, poor packaging is often a common complaint and slow dispatch times.
Now that amazon offer free p&p on all items, i think their setup just seems to work better, and in my experience i am more happy to shop at amazon.
I am not saying i dont use play now, its just not the first choice for me it used to be!

I like Play.com as they usually have a lot of good deals.
And one of the main reasons i use them is because of Quidco. And i also liked using the 5% RAC voucher they had a while ago, made everything about 9% off the listed price everytime :)
Still my favourite place to shop.

Amazon provides a great service, but no Quidco and no voucher codes make it very low on my list usually.

"Jeez! HUD gets more like the lion's den every day. I wonder how many deals we miss out on because people can't be bothered with the flak."

I completely agree, every deal is scrutinized beyond reasonable belief, some people may like the dvd's available, and they are at a very cheap price, voted hot.

Secondly, i also have had absolutely no problem with play, and have been using them for many years
#34
I have bought many hundreds of items from play - and about 1000 from amazon since 2004, aside from 1% of amazon items that ended up faulty ( manufacturers fault always) and about 2% damaged in transit (dvd box sets) there have been no issues, every play item arrived undamaged. Sorry to hear that some people have been unlucky in their purchases - trust me play and amazon are great at what they do.
#35
I have used Play for years - just looked at my order history and it's 79 items - and I have to admit they have gone downhill in recent years. My first order was in Feb 2003 and tailed off at the start of last year when I started ordering most of my things from HMV, who were offering better Quidco, on average lower prices, package their items better and tend to deliver quicker. My Play orders would easily be into triple digits now if they had kept their early standards up.

Items damaged in transit (I hope!) because of poor packaging and delayed orders because they don't seem to let on when they have ran out of stock means I will always choose HMV or Amazon unless Play are substancially cheaper now. And I don't even like Amazon because of shipping costs when only affiliates stock an item.

Can i just say blades of glory great film

In regards to my reply below, I ordered The Unborn (with lenticular sleeve) a few days ago and recieved it today. It doesn't have the sleeve. :whistling:

Hey Grumpy - don't go including me with the deal breakers - I said "Don't be mean" and that there was "one" great film in the list the OP provided - even if I hadn't liked any personally I'd still have voted hot.
I don't think OPs should worry about negative comments - they usually generate at least an equal amount of positive reaction and raise the deal profile - so if it is a good deal it'll gain even more heat

P.S. I've used Play and Amazon around 30 times each - delivery times for both seem slower than a few years back and both like to pack small items in enormous boxes (although Amazon tend to pads things much better) - perhaps I've been fortunate but I've had no problems with Play...
#39
I also used to order from play with no concerns about service but the last couple of orders have had issues, the worst of which was my gf ordered a CD and the wrong one arrived, we went through the returns procedure ok but the replacement they sent was not shrink wrapped and had 1/4 of the entire front cover of the box covered in a sticky residue where someone had peeled off a label. it clearly wasn't new and it is pretty poor of them to send this out.

We have sent play some feedback and the least i am expecting is an apology and a token refund towards the cost of a new jewel case, e.g. 75p/£1 which is what they did last time something similar happened to an order.
