  I downloaded the first one from iTunes on the day it came out. Cost me 2p per track and came in WAV format - took me six days to download each song on a 2400 baud modem.

  Have you seen the price for Now 25, ouch!! £68, they also have the re-issue of Now 1 but on CD as they didn't have them then (£4.93), I think that 10 was the first on CD but correct me if I'm wrong, I used to have them all until they were stolen so I wish they would do pre 29 so I can replace them, e-bay's a bit pricy for these. I think 29 was the first Now in the single size double case as well, all mine before then were big doubles!
  
  If anyone's after a lot of the 30+ ones then seriously go to car boots, you'll get them for 50p-£1, leave them if they want more for them.

  Now 4 was the first issue on CD but, it was limited issue. The next one on CD wasn't until Now 8. An original Now 4 has Patent Pending stamped into the case. I have one that plays perfectly, they are worth a couple of hundred quid now!

  I ordered Now That's What I Call Music Vol. 1 [Special Collector's Ed] on CD on 17th December at £4.93. I've just received an email saying that the order has been cancelled because supply at that price has been sold out. The price is now £12.93. Not happy.
