I know that growing plants isn't everyone's idea of fun on HUKD but there are many who do enjoy it. Have just found loads of seed packs that range in price from 69p to 99p and up.

As T&M currently have a Free Delivery weekend on then you get them delivered you your house for free.

There are many to choose from, too many to list. I have found a lot just from looking in the letter A section of the flower seeds index. not even started on B- Z.

There are vegetable seeds and flower seeds available. Great chance to grab a bargain. The link will take you to a section that is selling all the 69p - 99p ones although you may find more from looking through the index.

List of 69p flower seeds from the letter A part of the index.

Ageratum houstonianum Purple Fields F1 1 packet (70 seeds)
Achillea filipendulina Cloth of Gold 1 packet (500 seeds)
Althaea rosea Chater's Double Apricot 1 packet (30 seeds)
Amsonia tabernaemontana 1 packet (30 seeds)
Anemanthele lessoniana 1 packet (100 seeds)
Antirrhinum majus nanum Bronze Dragon 1 packet (100 seeds)
Aquilegia flabellata var pumila kurilensis Rosea 1 packet (30 seeds)

Alyssum maritima procumbens Sweet White 1 packet (1000 seeds) Price: £1.99

There are many more than the ones I have listed, too big a list to comprise. Hope someone finds some good deals here.

Remember if you fancy growing some vegetables, have a look what cheap seeds they have.

Enjoy & Happy Gardening ;-)

If you find that the Free Delivery hasn't automatically deducted your postage to £0.00 then enter the code:

This should then bring your postage to FREE!

The whole Thompson and Morgan range (flower and vegetables) together with Suttons and a few other brands were reduced by 50% at my local Wyevale a short while back. Not sure if it is still on. I posted it at the time and got no interest at all - assumed there were no gardeners on here.

I ordered from them before Christmas and they have taken another unathorised payment from my account. :x
I have emailed them 4 times now, to try to sort this out and they have not bothered to even acknowledge my contact.
I am now having to do a chargeback through my bank !!
Just a warning, that if you do buy from them....watch your bank account to make sure they don't take any unauthorised payments from you.

sorry to soumd negative, but netto,s have got fruit and veg seeds, and flower seeds for 19p. not sure what they are. i was going to give them a go as i have a very large tortoise and keeping him going is very expensive. so i thought i would have a go at growing my own stuff. does anyone know can most veg seeds be grown in a grow bag?. you can see i am a complete beginner.lol

Just about everything a tortoise might want can be grown in a grow-bag. The only things that can't would be things like carrots and potatoes, but they can be grown in pots or deeper bags.

Have to say, I am not an expert gardener but not a beginner either. Laid my own lawn 4 years ago and the rest is history. However, I have not had much success with Lidl's seeds, also the fruit trees I bought from there had tree rust and the dwarf sunflowers (don't get me started!). Based on this very biased view I now avoid Lidl, Netto, Aldi etc seeds.

I tend to buy seeds from Wilkinson (when they do clearance at the end of the season - sooooo cheap) use to buy from Woolies and also I buy loads of seeds/plugs from eBay (amazing value and always successfully grown). In fact most of my garden which I started from scratch is from eBay closely followed by Wilkos, I have bought from T&M occasionally. There is also a website http://www.seeds-by-size.co.uk/ which I have used once for rare seeds which were too expensive anywhere else. Before anyone asks, no I am not plugging. Re the tortoise, why not set up a seed swapping club with like minded people.

Am off now to spend a very nice afternoon drinking tea and looking through the T&M website.

You can grow potatoes in grow bags ... I saw this on TV: Cut the growbag in half lengthways, and then upend each half-bag, tap until the compost resettles down, and fold over the the cut plastic to form a stronger rim.

This also lets you use growbags on outside stairs, etc.

I just got a few vegetables - runner beans, beetroot, chili pepper, spinach and tomatoes. I missed the assorted seed pack as it was posted down the page :-(. Wonder if I can email them to add it to the order?

I'd agree with you, but for different reasons:

1 The poor quality of some of the seeds/plants etc they sell - their reputation is somewhat mixed, and I know keen, knowledgeable gardeners who simply will not buy thir products any more. There are some mixed reviews here, too: http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/online-shops/thompson-morgan-com/reviews/

2 From personal experience, you won't necessarily get the variety you order - but by the time it's grown into something different it's too late to do much about it.

3 It's very difficult to stop all their junk mail (physical and electronic!).

I've had some issues with T & M too.

- I ordered a plant last year and they sent it "dead". It took a couple months to get a replacement sent out.

- Some of the plants I ordered took over SIX MONTHS to arrive despite being in stock/season.

- The quality of the plants is very poor. Over a year has elapsed now since I ordered and nearly all the plants are dead (with exception to the pansies and peonies).

- It takes a long time to get a response via email but to be fair, If you do eventually get through to their call centre they are very friendly and apologetic, and will send out replacement plants.
