Still many grants around if you qualify, even child benefit was accepted for a few. Getting my cavity walls done next month for free, and they offered to do the loft too.

If you don't qualify though, good deal :)

how do you know if you qualify or not?

I have this in our loft (double thickness), so 34cm in total. Great Stuff. It was reduced to £5 a roll when i bought it a year ago.

I thought they were made from recycled plastic bottles not glass ones. Maybe the ones I got were a different brand then ? Bit I got them last year from homebase when there was a good deal on too. I think they were subsidised by Eon that time.

sounds great recycled plastic bottles in your attic.
i do hope none of you have spot lamps in your bedrooms [its got fire risk the same as normal fiber glass]
you should all use rockwool buy by the brand it is one of only a few that is fireproof
#7
is this one still likely to be very itchy and a bit of pain to put down?
#8
Can you tell me which grants you can get with child benefit? Don't earn big bucks but dont qualify for working tax credit.

got it when it was on offer before , got 6 in my car and only used them all when i double laid it , dont need a lot of rolls as it covers a much larger area than other more expensive rolls. easy to lay and cut as its pre-perforated. i used a big kitchen knife

I can get five in the back of a Ford Focus but it's a tight fit! Another pack will fit in the passenger's seat up front.

I installed some of this just yesterday (got it for £5/pack a few weeks ago). It can be a bit itchy but nothing like the old fibreglass stuff. Just wear some gloves, a dust mask and a shirt with sleeves. The three rolls are stuck together and they take a bit to get them apart. The middle roll is scored so you can easily split it into two half-width rolls. Just figure out where you need to cut the piece, squish it down with a board and you can slice through it with a fresh razor.

Seems i have to eat my words :|

I went over to collect my reserved rolls today and it was showing at £8 a roll....i was ready for an argument but because they made the mistake of it being a mainland offer only, they honered the £3 price for me so i got 6 rolls for £18...for once i have been lucky :)

6 rolls in ford mondeo - new shape , could have got 7 but had a fsp

knowing nothing about this subject would it help to put double thickness down in the loft? and do you just ram it into the gaps between the joints and put boards over it?
#22
Just don't squash it, its the gaps between where the air gets trapped that keep the warmth in.
