I know that this is not technically a surround sound system, but for those who do not want the clutter of speakers in every corner of the room and wires all over the place, it might fit the bill.
This is the cheapest I could find, and at £138.25 delivered is a real bargain imo.

I have this from Crescent Electronics, And I love it.
My TV speakers are rubbish and this give good sound with no wires.
Just need to turn down the sub on remote to reduce bass a little.

Thanks for the link. Was considering this for a small study room, but it looks to big for what I want. Heat added

Just ordered one, not many left now I was told.

Great sales team, best I have spoken to in a while, hope the rest of their service carries on like this.

Oh just saw that was your first ever post so I see that you probably don't know how this site works Soz. We vote on if the deal was good not if the item is good in your opinion.

Interesting idea but would have thought a 2.1 speaker set at the same price might be better value. I've got a Logitech X540 5.1 speaker setup and my previous Logitech Z4 2.1 set sounded equally good except with a full 5.1 stream with speakers properly placed.

Good price, useless to me, but good nonetheless. :)

Heat added i have one of these things though a differant brand and it has made a hell of a difference to my viewing experince. Movies sound much better as do games. Though mines only a 3.1 soundbar i strongly recommend one of these.

buy 2 and go stereo! ;) hot!

"Was £148.91 Save £13.54" not a big saving compared to play etc I guess it is but then theu must have been over priced anyway?

Ive got one.

Surround sound on this is shocking.
Overall sound is pretty good.
Overall this is an average bit of kit.

150 Watt RMS, really?

Any views on this "Extra value SurroundBar VH-8080 3.1 Channel Multimedia Bar Speaker For 42" TV's" for ~£54 from ebuyer: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136453

I don't expect the quality to be the same on a ~£54 system vs a £138 system, but wondered at bang-for-the-buck comparisons and other opinions.

Yeah I know what you mean! - I suppose the two main speakers might be 50w rms each then all those little speakers might add up to another 50watts rms between them.

Still I guess it's better than saying PMPO which is usally a theoretical maximum figure they achieved at one given frequency before the entire speaker set blew!

lol :p I ordered the ebuyer one and it arrived yesterday (I won't be home for a week though) and I'm itching to see if I've bought a lemon or whether it's ok. I'm also wondering if I should consider this deal, although I did not really want to spend £138.

Do Logic3 make & sell high fidelity gear?

If you want Hi-Fi/Surround Sound put the £138 towards something better.

Cold from me.

Received the ebuyer model yesterday. It was sent back this morning. Loud hum coming from the amplifier when in idle mode. Louder than could be tolerated. However, when plugged into the blu ray via optical cable it sounded good. That hum when the unit was quiet really put me off though. Thats the reason I decided to go for the Logic3.

Have you seen the price of Yamaha sound bars??. If you are on a budget they are out of reach.

Thanks for the feedback buster, now I'm a bit worried Will see how it is next weekend, fingers crossed.

Good price, always stick with a true surround sound system. Although these front mont 5.1 units seem better with hearing the characters on screen, unlike the full system where it's all bangs and exploasions, waking up the neighbourhood.lol

this does have a 2.1 setting and I always use it myself rather than the 5.1.
It doesn't replace a decent hi -fi system of course but I have no room for all the speakers and of course you can't buy a decent system for this price anyway.!

You can get a second hand Yamaha sound projector for around £150 which would be far better in terms of creating a fake surround, but obviously second hand comes with no warranty.

have you seen the size of this monster on the youtube vid?

It looks like the contents of the boot of an average 18 year old's Vauxhall Nova. What next? bake bean can out of the side of the tv? lol

I'd give the X540's a try, nice set as long as you don't mind the wires.

60 inch TV and you’re not going for a proper 5.1 at least (_;)

It's not exactly a looker!

It comes with a clip on cover for those wanting to be a bit more discrete. Every time one of these things is posted, all the audiophiles crawl out of the woodwork to **** it off, point out it isnt true surround sound and try to get you to buy something more expensive. Which kinda defeats its purpose really. Yes I have one of these and it sits in the gap between the TVs built in speakers and a full surround sound system quite nicely.

For a dumb n00b, how do you connect a console, a DVD/Bluray, a TV to these things?
Are they not set up for one thing at a time?
Meaning you have to change the connections every time you want to flick from one thing to another?
