I know this aint a great brand and I didnt buy one (because I keep my media on a server and dont use the blu ray I have already) but it seemes like a rock bottom price and I couldent see it on here already...

Seems like a pretty bog standard player, I dont know what else to say about it...

This was in Braehead and there seemed like there was a fair few left... despite the fact its clearance ;) I couldent find it online!

Hopefully good for some :-D

Logik = own brand Currys product

Go for a Sony or Samsung instead
#7
please walk away unheard of brand and for £20 more get a sony if you look round online

Just because it's not an internationally well recognised brand doesn't mean it's not any good.

someone has suggested paying £20 more for a Sony

Well £20 extra is 40% more .. Does the Sony (which you've not bothered to provide a link for) give 40% more features or warranty?

Never heard the name, some kind of Chinese crap.

You say this all the time ... and judging from some replys regarding amps youve heard of ****** all makes mate. as pointed oubt £20 is a 40% hike ... kind of missed the point of this site havent you?

If I bought a Blu-Ray player I would watch about 1 movie a month, if that. They would all be borrowed movies from my brother.

Why therefore, would it be worth me spending £20 more on a Sony branded player?

(That is a rhetorical question. Stop advising people to spend £20 they don't need to spend. That's at least half a days work for most people.)
#14
If you need a basic blu ray player this would definately fill that criteria!
I can't believe some of the ignorant replies above!
£50 and upgradeable isn't that bad. I don't think many people at this price range are bothered about gold connections or 7.1 Dolby.
Good spot OP.

Did you rather mean almost everything in your house are crap? BTW, if anyone always goes for famous makes have a look at the back of your Sony if it is not made in China it would be from Poland! China made is far better quality than Pol

He's just parodying another user who hadn't heard of Onkyo.

That deal was posted 2 weeks and 2 days ago, about a day earlier than this stopped being even vaguely amusing.

There's not many user reviews I can find for it, the few reviews I've seen are generally favourable, couple of issues with battery life with the remote control, one person complaining the machine's unable to play Avatar (although that's maybe someone who hasn't upgraded the player's firmware, the machine's been on the market for about a year and a half now) ... so no major gripes or grumbles from folk who've bought it already.

I say this one's quite a good deal. Just hope it's still on offer in a weeks time when I get my wages paid (aren't all the best deals on offer the third and fourth week of the month ? or is that just me ?)

I was in Currys yesterday and they had a Samsung one for £49.97.

Blimey £20 for half a days work? Must be working in the 'LOGIK' factory!

Seriously though, it is a good price but you would have to hide it when your mates come round or you would have the absolute pi$$ ripped out of you!

I've had this model set up next to the Sony 350 which was the current Sony model at the time.

Changing HDMI cables made no difference to either but the Sony look much much better playing DVD's and slightly sharper playing blu rays. Of course improvement in quality is partially subjective.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!

I made the mistake of getting this player around 8 months ago.

Initially I thought it was pretty good, then the problems started.

Things like hitting the pause button turned off the player and skipping a scene paused it etc. brought it back and had it replaced. Within a day or two same thing began happening.

Demanded money back and got a Samsung player instead.

ps. it may say upgradeable but this is nonsense. This is no support for this what so ever so good luck trying to upgrade it. The guy who gave my money back at currys told me as much!

There is my good deed for the day

In retail, where for many a day is 9 til 5.30 at minimum wage (Minus an hour for break), half a days pay is about £22.

Seems OK for what it is. I've heard it's BD Live, not that I've even used that in a year+ of owning a Sony. There are also codes for unlocking Regions to play cheaper US discs - spoken about at length on here.

Thanks for updating on the price - and don't mind the petty bourgeois undermanagers - who are out of touch with workers' wages in the real world.

They had literally hundreds of these in stock at Merry Hill, special clearance shop up in the top industrial units.
