anyone know if you can use your telly remote to control the volume?

Seems to work for me. Currently connected through aux

Does this have a digital input?

Why is this only good for T.V's up to 37". Got a 42". Would like to buy a cheap soundbar as TV audio is poor.

Maybe you can sit the TV on top and 37" is the maximum weight it can take.

Given that LED lit LCD's weight a lot less than regular LCD's, this would very likely work fine with your 42" TV (assuming it is LED lit).

Not sure - "There are a 3.5 mm jack and RCA auxiliary jacks provided to keep you connected as you choose." The LED display on the website piccy says "optical". The spec also rather confusingly says "Bluetooth Yes - BT / AUX / potical / MP3 Link" - potical may be Curry's version of optical lol.

EDIT - b*gger it, I've just ordered it. Can't argue with a soundbase for 50 quid!

how do I connect optical ??

Eco setting makes it go off even on a 'normal' volume.

Might return it.

tempted to get this. Would anyone who's bought this recommend it?

Use an optical cable from source to the unit. Hard to answer that without sounding condescending.

It only switches to standby after 15 minutes without input. Switches automatically back on when audio source is reconnected.

I'd have to say yes, at the price. It's certainly an improvement on the sound from my Samsung office TV.
Couple of minor annoyances, if you use components-to-headphone socket it handles 5.1 terribly. I switched to optical then and it was far, far better. The only problem then is that I have to use the unit remote rather than my tv remote for sound. Also, I thought (probably naively) that I could 'send' bluetooth to my headphones at night. But no, bluetooth is for input only.
I'm by no means an audiophile, so I'm pretty satisfied overall.

Just finished connecting mine up, after collecting it this afternoon. Connection was a piece of p*ss, and to confirm, there *is* an optical input on the rear (though no optical cable, understandably).

Even using the standard 3.5mm headphone-to-RCA connection (cable included), the sound is really impressive. Gonna fetch an optical cable tomorrow and update if it's noticeably better. Bluetooth connectivity is cracking too - find me another BT-enabled soundbar for this little money. I'm 'throwing' the Walkman output from my Xperia Z to the Logik, and it even mutes and pauses when the phone rings. Then, when I've done telling EE to sod off, it automatically restarts playing Tori Amos at my original volume and in the original place in her screeching.

Fifty quid is an utter steal, and I'm amazed this isn't much, much hotter. It looks nice and unobtrusive, and is even a perfect fit under my Samsung 40" tellybox stand. Here's a link to a piccy of it: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brianblessedisagod/14427471550/

Big thanks to the OP!

Do you guys reckon a Panasonic 42" Plasma will be too heavy for it? That's the only thing stopping me from getting one as it looks awesome :(

EDIT: Just read it has "Wooden Housing" would that be stronger and better than metal? :S

I'd definitely give the optical a whirl, I really noticed the difference when playing high def mkv. Although you are then restricted to use the unit remote. As the OP stated originally, the football sounded great last night through it.
Agree with everything else, especially that this deal should have got a great deal more heat. Fair play to the OP.

I'm not sure about 42", but there is no way I'd put my 46" on it for fear of damage to both. It really does not look strong enough.

One way round the remote control problem when using optical in is to use a Harmony remote control and map the Logik remote volume buttons to the TV ones.

Bought one, I have a 42 inch tv sitting on it, no problem...

Setting aux using headphone jack and movie eq setting

I had a previous 2.1 system which was good, but this sounds clearer even through aux, vocals are very good and clear on any channel, and the woofer is good as well, decent on normal tv, better on music channels

The display on the front of the unit can be dimmed using the remote until you can hardly see it, which is cool

Also I ramped the unit volume to max using the supplied remote, then just control the volume using the tv remote as usual, then the soundstage remote is not needed

Weird update

I am watching the brazil holland game, and when there is crowd noise the sound seems to dip in and out like it cuts for a split second then comes back, tried the audio on another tv and it's ok

But, I changed channel and the audio is ok on other channels, it's as if it doesn't like the crowd noise on sports... Weird..

Will monitor it.

Just thought I'd post an update for the indecisive people.
Originally connected using RCA cable provided - impressed with sound, tv remote controlled volume, turns itself off after period of inactivity / turning your tv off, and back on when you turn your tv back on. Great watching the footy but not so great watching movies.

Now have a 99p optical cable from eBay - world of difference.
Even better sound reproduction watching the footy. Movies also now seem to sound loads better too.
Only downside is that the volume is now controlled only by using the remote provided - not a biggy for me.

I was looking to buy systems over twice the price, and listened to them. This should be hot in my eyes (but then I'm biased!)

Hi,

Was that ever resolved as it's the same with mine, not so bad with crowd clapping but it means the Proms music is awful because it does the same when the orchestra is playing quietly.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried 3 optical cables. 2 from ebay and a belkin from 99p shop. Wasn't so bad when it dipping during crowd applause during wimbledon but the music is a problem. Background music is fine.

Just got one of these...Is there an issue with the background noise fault appearing on all units. Or are they generally ok? Mine seems very nice for now, but it's only a day old! Thanks

I heard the problem with crowd clapping watching wimbledon, The proms when the orchestra was playing quietly and when I watched the BBC prog a few days ago on the Art of China, the background music was quite delicate at times, usually I don't notice it on background music but this was obvious.

Is it just the way the unit is or is it actually a hardware fault? Obviously it's very cheap, so I don't expect much for £40 squid. Everything I've thrown at it; Xbox, Movies, BT music it has performed perfectly. Is the background noise issue something that develops over time with all the units and its just a case of putting up with it? Slightly confused why these are so heavily reduced from RRP...my concern is PC World is shifting these cheap as the hardware is a little iffy...I hope not.

Both of the units I had developed the same fault after less than a week (background distortion), but I think that was just very bad luck. I wouldn't stress too much about it, otherwise you'll probably start hearing faults that aren't there!
Also, I've always found PC World to be excellent within the first year, not sure why they get such a bad press (up-selling expensive cables notwithstanding)

I bought one of these and appear to be having some problems with it. I've for it connected through aux and it sounds as if the audio is dipping in volume then going back up again. I can't work out if it's when I use the equalizer that's in built or if it's when music and speech are happening at the same time. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Would not be better or improved using an optical cable do you think?

mine did this, see previous post, bought an optical cable for 99p off ebay, and it seems better, sound not dipping in and out, but the bass is not as prominent.
#33
This is why they're cheap. Damn. Such a bargain too. Unfortunately I've tried 3 optical cables and I don't hear any improvement. Most of the time it won't be a problem, but when it is, it's annoying. Proms, sport, any applause it seems to dip. It seems to be when it's considers the noise background noise.

I brought one the other day and connected by TV via the optical cable and the PC via the aux input at the back but for some reason the sound bar turn on randomly during the night emitting a random like static interference noise an then after awhile turn it's self off

Any one else had anything like this happen to them?
#37
By default, the sound stage switches itself to standby if the remote is not used every 15 mins. This cannot be changed. It's beyond annoying, and if I had of knew that before purchasing. I wouldn't have bothered.
#38
I have just bought one of these but while using it my family have noticed that the volume constantly changes while in use! Any idea what the problem might be?

They're faulty like that. Curry's took mine back and it's why they're practically giving them away. It's a shame, if it wasn't for the dipping it would be great.
#40
I am struggling to get mine to connect with the aux setting any reason why this could be? I have tried 3 cables and it on 2 TVs still not connecting. All other settings work ok. Any input would be great guys thanks.
