You have 7 days to return an item to Currys and it has to be unopened if purchaced instore, if its bought on the web then you can open the box but you need to return it in 7 days to a store or they will collect FOC

How can you test the quality of a product without opening the packaging and using it?

What if the picture quality is abysmal? Or the drive sounds like a chainsaw? Certainly you would want to return it, but the post above says you can't, because it has been opened.

If you buy instore you have no legal right to a refund unless faulty, however if its bought online you can open packaging and test it and as long as its looks like new you can send it back.

Not really you can just say its not fit for purpose
and how you ment to test it in 7 days ?

Following the law you can give it back at a later time
You have to have a sufficient amount of days to test it and 7 is not enough

Test an item ?

If you buy a DVD player and it plays DVD's then its fit for purpose, if it takes a while to read them or say you dont like the remote then you are not entitled to a refund if bought instore, where does it state in law as you say you can take an item bought in a store if you dont like it ??
