Those peddles look very close together Andy. Do you have this one? Can anyone give an appraisal of this set please?

Thanks in advance.

This wheel is awesome. The pedal spacing as absolutely fine. Had mine for a couple of years, used it a lot and never had any problems with it. Awesome price too. Buy one, you won't regret it!

Been looking for one of these for a while. Great price, especially with the fiver off voucher, and quidco as well.

Thanks to OP

if only it worked on 360 too.

Not the cheapest it's been at Play - was £100 a couple of months ago, but still a great price. Hot!

Dont go there. You'd think Logitech would've rectified this ages ago. They've lost a ton of G25 sales to Forza fans.

Great wheel, good strong but smooth feedback. I have size 11 feet and the pedals are great.

Would be awesome to set that up

My son ordered one of these at £120 with his birthday money. I was furious, £120 for a toy steering wheel you f...in idiot. He told me its not a toy and mind my own buisness as its his money, and what would I know being an old man anyway. I slapped him and told him that fourty is not an old man, but fifteen is a gobby teenager. When it arrived I quickly changed my mind. Its a really great piece of kit, not a toy. It makes his driving games so much more realistic to play. It is really well built too. Even im playing his playstation now!!!!!!!:whistling:

there are loads of reviews on youtube and google, i sold my used set for more than that on ebay. Tthe pedals are fine, nice accurate resistance, the brake is harder than the accelerator. The wheel is unbelievable, if you spin your car you really have to wrestle it like you would in a real car, overall the feedback and feel of it are spot on. The gear stick is not so good in comparison tho, ok for sequential shifting but it feels cheap an plastiky. That didnt fuss me as i always drive auto.

This was the best game controller i ever had, made a few world top 20 time trial records on Gran Turismo online whit my G25

Same would love to use this on forza 3
#13
...all it needs is a Wheel Stand Pro :)
#14
Can someone tell me if it's quicker using the gear paddles on the wheel or the gear shift box?
banned#15
Depends what you using it for to be honest, Stick/Clutch is really good rally/drift. But for Singer Seaters and F1 the only option is padals with auto clutch.

Two Qs:

1. What are the best PC racing games that go with this?

2. Which wheel is the best for Xbox 360? (since this isn't compatible)

Will rep answers
#19
Isn't it microsofts fault they cant have this on the 360? I heard it was something to do with them having a falling out with one of the developers of force feedback as they had copied it for one of their own earlier wheels.

Its a good price but I'd hang off a little longer till the new one hits the shelves and these should start going clearance.

Ohh I quote a poster on the previous thread:

On the PC Its bloody fantastic with:

Richard Burns rally
Race 07
GTR, GTR 2
GTR Evolution
RFactor
Live for Speed
GT Legends

Live for speed :)

This wheel oozes quality. I have had one for a bout 6 months and paid £180 and I still think it was worth it.
I don't use the shifter to be honest, just the paddles. RFactor is my game of choice for out and out online racing. I race on the ISR(internationalsimracing)servers and always have a blast.

I have this as well as the G25, prefer the pedals of the fanatec but the wheel of the G25. I wouldnt say its worth the extra £200 over the g25

is this your set up?
*wondering about the sponge base - is it stable??
#28
Sponge base is just there to dampen down the sound of pedals when playing late in evening.. Yes its very stable, its mk2. seating position is modelled on my car and perfect fit for me, pedals are adjustable for guests.
mk3 will be a prettier version :) If I ever get round to doing it

P.s the sponge is knobbly on the underside as can be seen on the edge, so the frame is only actually a few mm off the ground due to the weight of the unit. Does wonders for dampening the sound of heel and toe when a little too eager.

not really their fault, they would have to pay a bucket to MS for the licencing fee.

ok if you are minted you want the fanatec wheel

http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/31/fanatecs-porsche-911-turbo-s-racing-wheel-plays-on-xbox-360-ps/

however for most people the official wireless racing wheel is the one to get. dont consider any other on xbox as you do not get truie force feedback.

pc racers if you like serious ones you want i-racing or R-Factor *R Factor 2 out soon*

Hmmm, that's interesting!
I can't decide whether to order the Turbo S with the CSP's or not. My initial plan was to use the G25 pedals with the Turbo S pure edition but something is telling me to order the CSP's too. If I order both it saves me 10 euros (Delivery cost) which isn't a lot but every little helps plus I can then sell my G25 for some extra cash!
I'd be interested to hear your verdict on the Turbo S wheel and CSP's?? (I've been following all the stuff on GTPlanet forums)

Cheers

Rubbish. Logitech make this already.

Why no G25 compatibility then?

With the price of this wheel so low is it likely Logitech will be replacing this one soon?

As said before, the pedals are ALOT better quality. In terms of gameplay, the clutch and throttle pedals make no real difference even though they are controlled by magnetic sensors. The braking is awesome on the pedals, totally controllable, much like a real car. Pedal onlt travels so far and then you just apply greater force for extra braking as with a real car. They are very well made and worth the £200 in my opinion.

The wheel...The alacantra leather and chunky wheel feel nice in the hand. But when playing the flappy padals feel cheap, the mounting system is *****, the centre of the wheel looks and feels plasticy. G25 is miles ahead in my opinion other than the Fanatec has more buttons and has an LCD display. I repeat the mounting system is utter crap. My advice is buy the pedals if your feeling rich and stick with G25 wheel. You have to compare £110 G25 with £300 Fanatec....I would choose the G25 if I had to have one, and maybe spend the extra on the clubsport pedals.

Am yet to play with or see the G27, so would be interesting to see how that feels as it has a chunkier wheel, more buttons and some flashing lights. SHame it doesnt have the better pedals. I am tempted to buy the nixim brake mod which is supposed to give a similar effect to the fanatec pedals but im unsure.

When I ordered both I actually saved 70 quid?

Pedals were 200 on their own and the wheel swas 170 but I bought both for 300 with free shipping, cant remember exact price in euros but I remember paying £300. Seeing as your saving £70 maybe buy it and sell it on ebay if you dont like it. Should sell for more than £100 so you would get your money back

Thanks for the info. I actually had a go of a G27 when I collected my VR3 last weekend from Visionracer in Runcorn. I have to say it really feels no different from a G25. Apparently, the led lights don't work with all games so my advice is stick with the G25 and save yourself some money.

I placed an order last night for the Fanatec Turbo S and CSP's so that I have one wheel for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Not too worried about the mounting system as it will be bolted to the VR3 subject to some new holes being drilled. Can you confirm that you get the drilling template included with the wheel and if indeed the wheel has bolt holes underneath for securing?

Before the VR3 I had a Playseat and it was a pain having to swap wheels/pedals depending on which console I wanted to play. With the VR3 it's worse cos all the cabling runs through the tubing of the frame....
Fingers crossed this Fanatec stuff arrives before xmas though!!! :whistling:

My cousin is interested in buying a play unit, not too keen on the playseats, vr3 looks nice, but the fanatec unit is top of the list at the moment although is rather pricey.

Yes you do get some sort or drilling template thingy with it, but didnt pay too much attention to it. There are also 4 holes in the bottom which seem to be tapped. around M10 bolts, so this should be suitable to hold it in place. Although I dont think the bolts were included.

Delivery was very quick ,within 3 days, I really do liek the feel of the actual steering wheel, its a shame the gead paddles seem to cheap, not a positive feel at all. You will love the pedals.
