if i had the spare cash i would get these as they are meant to be quite good, and at this price for a half decent set bonus....

I have these, great headset.
#3
Looks like the G35 but without the programmable keys on the side of them. If so great deal! The G35 was one of the better virtual surround headsets I have owned in the past.
#4
I wonder if these also have plastic hinges that break with normal use.
#5
Can someone recommend a wireless gaming headset that I could use with my PC/PS4 and Xbox One? I don't want multiple headsets and I appreciate such a product will probably be expensive.

I've had 2 G35s now and they're great. On the first one the hinge broke separating the ear cup and Logitech replaced it for free, no questions asked.

Always had great customer service from them.

Yeah same as mine did then LOL. Again, replaced no bother at all.
Logitech are one of the better service departments I have dealt with - had Harmony remotes go wrong and they sent out new ones quickly (upgraded in some cases, I had an old one they didn't make any more which controlled IIRC 6 or 7 devices, none of their new range did that except their top end model, so they sent me that one :D ) and the people on the phone are good too

Are these OK for music too? I had a pair of creative fatal1ty which sounded great but broke, I used them for gaming and music so does anyone know what the music performance is like with this headset? Thanks

I went through 2 pairs of fatal1ty's and both broke on me and again Creative offered a replacement, but it was a bit of a battle. The G35's are easily better than the creatives, so if the G430's use the same drivers I would definitely get them.

These would save you £5 if you weren't fussed about having the USB sound card included:

G230 is stereo only.

Yeah, how can this be 7.1 with only one cable?

One cable for headphones and one for Mic. Those cables can just plug in to the jack, which would make it L+R only... not 7.1?

Anyone?

I managed to find this on the Logitech forums.

The G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset is designed to emulate 7.1 surround sound "only" when the USB adapter is used and the Logitech Gaming Software is installed. It's expected to work in Stereo mode when plugged into the green 3.5 mm Aux port found in common sound card hardware.

Hummm... so, emulated 7.1 is all 7.1 mixed in the software only transmitting in stereo.

Plugged in via audio jack it is straight stereo.

Well, that's a shame... and a bit of a con really.

I have a pair of Sennheiser 5.1 from many years back, to use them, there are 3 cables, for Front L+R, Rear L+R and Bass & Centre... they have individual speakers inside and they are not bad, but the rear speaker sounds like it is coming from up high. They are getting a bit crackly now, so I am looking to replace, but these would probably just be better being stereo.

If you tell the game you are in Stereo, it will transmit all sounds to just L + R... if you tell the game it is 7.1, it transmits all sounds to the right place, the headphone software will then rejoin it back in stereo and you have wasted processing time for nothing.

Shame, these seem like really nice headphones.

EDIT: my old ones are Speedlink Medusa 5.1s, not Sennheiser... brain fart: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/headsets-gamers-love,1077-2.html

So many tiny speakers in such a small space just doesnt work, regardless. The best gaming headsets all use virtual surround for a reason.

Plus it allows for 2 big drivers as opposed to loads of little tinny ones.

Also worth mentioning that if these are anything like the G930s, you'll need to tweak the equaliser settings in the Logitech software to stop the Bass from bottoming out. The distortion is unbearable at stock settings. It would also make them useless for anyone using the jack only.

Razer are doing a free virtual surround software (Razor Surround) for the next few days to help promote Childs Play (think Humble Bundle, but wth a 'free' option). I have no idea if it's any good and I currently don't have the ability to test to see what it's like, but looking at the background of these headphones & the razor software, they seem to do the same thing (but without the dobly).

Anyone used virtual surround software before, and are able to comment on how well they work on normal decent headphones? Is there a major difference between getting the OP deal, and getting decent in-ear headphones with software?

My friend bought these like 3 months ago when they were more expensive. At first they sounded pretty good on Skype, but now they sound crackly and robotic some times.
#19
Bought and received, sound quality is good but they are by no means loud, on max volume I'm getting a hiss (mic is off) and the virtual 7.1 is ineffective.

Think I'll be returning them.
