Loaded with features optimised for game play.
A Logitech exclusive, the G5's 36 g adjustable weight cartridge gives you thousands of variations on balance and weight—including one that´s perfect for your unique gaming style. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) gaming feet provide the ultra-smooth glide you want in a gaming-grade mouse, while the 2000 dpi laser engine sends out an astounding 1000 USB reports per second* for precision response at blinding speeds. Logitech´s SetPoint software allows you to customise your mouse with advanced features such as game detection and in-game adjustable sensitivity (including independent x- and y-axis settings).

I had the mx510 and went for the G5 but it was not as comfortable to use. I did not like the feel of the blue cover, it made my hands feel dry and I felt that the buttons were not as smooth as the 510. I ended up giving it to a friend and buying a mx518 which was much more comfortable.

Thanks for that; I've got an old battered 510 and was considering this but will go for the 518 now.!

You need to have 20 posts and they moderate the forums quite well so if you just spam then they'll take away posts. Then use the setup guide to get it working, it often takes a day or so for the systems to update and allow you to claim free shipping.

Tbh Hexus are a good forum anyway so you might as well post there if you have an interest in hardware. Scan were also good when they forgot to include a straw with my compressed air, they sent me out another full can the next day and let me keep the first one.

Previously I liked Ebuyer but a couple of snotty american call centre people put me off them a little (they accused me of being stupid and not clicking on a bundle deal, then took me ages to get anything in exchange - eventually got a free shipping token but it was a western standoff kind of deal where I said "I'm the customer and I'm dissatisfied, what can we do?"

CCL are also good for people in Yorkshire as you can pickup from them.

Very good gaming mouse had my one two years now and its still going strong, Buy one now.

I use the previous version of this (grey'ish colour) and it's a superb mouse. Would highly recommend them!
I love having it as heavy as possible and it's incredibly repsonsive and comfortable too. Though saying that, I've not used a MX518 so can't compare it to one of those.

Mine's still running strong after 3 years+ and would recommend them to anyone. Heat & rep added.

Hi samy26, would you say that's better?

The MX518 has been posted on here for less in the past, e.g. EXPIRED - Logitech MX518 / MX 518 Optical Gaming Mouse - £17.99 delivered @ Amazon

May be in the market for one & still trying to make up my mind. I've only ever read independent reviews for these mice.

Excellent thanks for this been waiting ages for a good gaming mouse to come up!!
#19
I bought my g5 a couple of weeks ago for slightly more than this price, so it's a hot vote from me.

i am very happy with the mouse so far, after using a cheap one for quite some time i can really tell the difference. the adjustable weight and on the ability to change the sensitivity 'on the fly' are great for not only gaming but for photo editing and similar software too.

From the reviews i have read these seem to last a long time ass well, so well worth the purchase IMO

I would advise you to get the: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/930592/Microsoft-Intellimouse-Explorer-3-0-Optical-Mouse/Product.html

The MX518 is a fantastic mouse, so much so that when I bought a Razr deathadder to upgrade, I had to return it and keep the mx518 instead because it just felt much better. However, I'm thinking of getting a new mouse after owning this one for over 2 years and the Microsoft Intellimouse is one I'm likely to try.

Read the 1st review.

I really want the 518 to replace my old 510 too, the shape is perfect. I tried a 620 but didn't like it.

I have the burnt orange/grey one too and like to have it fully weighted. It's also around 3 years old with no issues

Yes - and i'm even left handed! Find it surprisingly comfortable, though a couple of buttons are out of my reach.

Am I missing something - its just a mouse? No?

Well made laser mouse (not optical), adjustable weight, on-the-fly dpi change, wheel tilt button configuration.... All handy stuff (literally!) :p

It may be a subjective thing JustExtreme. That's what's putting me off.

From what I've heard, if you have 'smaller' hands, you might want to try a Razer instead. E.g. Razer Salmosa RZ01-00240100-R3M1 1800dpi 3G Infrared Gamers Mouse / Black for £13.99 @ Play

More Razer mice @ Play (pun not intended!).
