Haven't used a Wireless mouse in a long time, but I'm still not sure that introducing another point of interference is going to help when gaming.

Doesn't change the fact that a wireless mouse carries inherent and unavoidable latency. There's a very good reason pro gamers don't use them and anyone serious about gaming in general, in my opinion, should follow suit.

Don't get me wrong if we're talking WoW on a laptop this will clearly be more than fine, but I wouldn't want to use this for any competitive games.

I think that unless you actually take part in competitive 'competition' gaming then there's no reason that this mouse isn't sufficient for everyday gaming.
Accord to the specifications the mouse and receiver connect at 2.4GHz, but unlike Logitech's normal shared receivers, the gaming line dedicates the full bandwidth of the connection to overcome issues of lag or interference.

Check out these reviews, they seem to think that the mouse is fine for gaming:

as stated, we're not in 2005. Don't make such a dumb sweeping statement, plenty of pro gamers use wireless mice. This mouse has a 2ms respones time and I believe a 1000hz polling rate. hell, 2ms is faster than most screens, mainly IPS screens... are you going to tell me gamers don't use IPS monitors?

I can understand why people might think wireless is bad but if you're gaming the mouse will at most be 1 or 2 metre away form the receiver, that really is no cause for drop outs and the response time is just fine.

As it happens this mouse is actually very good and despite not being rechargeable, but battery life is brilliant.
