Was £25 on amazon last week - sold out now though so good price.
#2
Beat me to it, good find. Ebuyer increased their price from £28 to £48 so this is the cheapest price around.
#3
thanks ordered
#4
Heat given, I've just ordered 2, one for me and one for my Dad for Xmas
#5
Excellent - thanks MWD. I have this model remote myself and love it - so much so that I've been on the look out for one for the parents (for xmas) for the last month or so; and missed the Amazon one.

Heat & rep added :-D

Heard these operate V+ Virgin Media Boxes AND Xbox 360s. Is that correct?
#7
can't commend on Virgin, but they do Xbox360

awesome controller.. bought it bout 2 months ago when it was hot @ Amazon

Is this one of the remotes that can be used to make some sony blu-ray players (BDP-S350) DVD region free? as if so my interest int his goes up considerably.

Thanks.

No, it's just one that will control multiple devices as you wish, and has 'activities', so you can press "Watch DVD", and it'll turn on your TV, Blu Ray, audio system, and select all the correct input. Takes some programming though using the provided PC/Mac software.

Trust me to have just bought the 785 yesterday.

I got the 525 last year when it was on offer. These are brilliant if you have multiple systems. Good build quality, very easy to setup and Logitech update the software for new components all the time.

I think these are IR only (not RF) so I kind of wish I'd paid a bit more and got the Harmony 1 when it was on offer.

H & R added.
#11
does it do sky +?

If you goto the logitech website, there is a compatability wizard where you can list all your devices and it checks for compatability.
#13
I currently have 8 remotes on our side table, so getting rid of 5 will be fantastic. Did the compatability check and it will do the TV, SKY+, Projector, Home Cinema Sound and HD-DVD player. Just leaves the PS3, HDMI Switch and WD TV Live remotes which I can live with. Bought and heat added! Bargain!

I have one of the Harmony 885's - but I am guessing this has the same learning feature for buttons... If so - you can add the HDMI switch to the TV controls manually like I have. i.e. when I watch Sky - it turns on the TV and turns it to HDMI (single socket) then sends the command to the belkin HDMI switch to change input (but it thinks it is a tv command still). This would allow you to have extra remotes bundled in to the 5 (well the core ones at least).

There's no simple way I'm afraid. Have a look here. It's much easier to do with one of those cheap One For All remotes but after that the remote is nowhere near as useful as a Harmony.

I made mine region-free by signing up for the "forum bike" on the AVForums. Someone bought a remote and programmed it and kindly offered to start a group where the next person on the list posts it to the next person when they're done and so on. I don't know if you need to have been a member on there for a while or not but it's worth having a look for that thread.

Just to make sure you're aware, the hack only makes the player region-free for DVDs, not Blu-rays. I'm not aware of any BR players that will play region-locked BRs from other regions, but there are quite a few region-free BRs out there. I imported the Fifth Element for example.

thanks im going for one,.

If it doesn't you can manually teach the remote the commands from the old remote

I would think if the remote isnt supported then it should have a steal mode, so that you point the "CRAP" remote at the 515 and it stroes it to the desired key.
#24
Cheers, just missed out on the Amazon deal the other day.
#25
Bought another, great xmas pressie's.
#26
I got one of these from Amazon and it is amazing, the wife does not understand it although it is very simplistic. It allows me to intervene when she is attempting to put on Greys Anantomy, SEx in the City, Ugly Betty or that real ***** Ghost Whisperer
#27
Good deal I was gutted that I missed out on the amazon deal so this is excellent, I've needed to get one of these for a while.

Cheers
#28
Bought one for the upstairs! Cheers
Great remote for the price

Just setup my Harmony 525 and it's a dream (virtually the same as this). Loads of functionality via the PC interface but you can spend hours in there if you aren't careful! Costs an extra £30 to control the PS3 though via the adittional dongle :-(

Oh, HOT BTW

I have this remote, you are right that if you device is not on the list it can still "learn" how to control your deivce by copying your remote.

This worked with my very obscure Linux Satallite Set Top Box so dont worry if your device is not on the list!

Great remote, would recommend.

I bought one of these a few months ago but had to return it as I was having compatibility issues with Vista...logitechs tech team tried to help but to no avail. Shame really

Just a warning though to Vista users to have a good play around with it first before you throw the packaging away.
#32
Good deal, but I personally prefer the remote from lidl for £7.99. Does the same job at a fraction of the price. You need to enter in the codes but there is learning and macro functions available.

Is this an old model? Other than the remotes having a driver to connect to the PC to update the commands (which I'd imagine is a very similar driver for most of the remotes), the software to update the remote is the same no matter what Harmony you have :?

My Harmony 885 worked with Vista and my new One works with Vista and W7.

You don't need to spend £30. You can buy a generic £10 IR USB dongle (logic3 do one) that can control everything apart from on/off. The way I see it is that I have to get up to put a blu-ray in the PS3 anyway so turning on isn't an essential function for me. ;-)

Just letting people know of an alternative.

BTW - bought two!

Stuff Vista, does it work with Windows 7?

The logitech remote software v7 works fine for me with Win7 x64 and x86. Took a couple of goes to get it to install the driver properly with x86, but that could have just been a glitch.
#39
States on the site the software is XP, Vista, Win7 & mac OS X compatible

Thanks OP, that's a few more presents sorted.
