Good price, would clear up that picking up and putting down of the five controllers currently for my AV stuff...good find.
#2
excellent bit of kit, I have one & have been able to retire 5 remotes! It takes ages to set up (via your PC) but is well worth the effort.
#3
Great remote - bought on about a year ago from e-buyer, it was about this price after £10 off from Google checkout. You program it via your PC and then press 1 button and it turns everything onto the correct settings. Would recoment it.

Great remote, had one for 2 years but recently bought the new 'one' model to replace it as it was getting a bit battered. Strongly recommend and a great price.
#5
I thought it was a phone when I first looked at it :-D
#6
Do want. I have about 6 remotes knocking around my living room. I hope this is still here on payday!
#7
Will this work on Sky+?
#8

This is hot BUT if you have a Panasonic TV - AVOID. I say this because the remote cannot cope with the odd system of AV input selection which requires different colour presses depending on what input you are watching. I gave up and contacted customer services who were exceptional but could not make it work. If you have a panasonic TV use a one for all kameleon. Heat added.

Works fine wiyh my Panasonic.
That also uses coloured buttons to switch av inputs.

The Harmony 785 is reduced too:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/157980/logitech-harmony-785-remote-control/

Does anyone know the difference in specs between the two and if one had to make a sound long term investment, as far as remotes are concerned, which of these 2 would be better in the long run?

The 785 has a larger colour LCD screen with six viewable activities at one go while the 525 has 4 on a monochrome screen. I actually considered the 785 that but having used the 525 which does everything I wanted for so long, I couldn't justify paying the extra - isn't that why we're all here :-D

Another reason i went for this is that the 525 uses AAA batteries (I have rechargeables) while the 785 uses a dock charger with an internal lithium battery, I have kids and a dock is an additional device I'd prefer not to have in the living room. This comes with a set of batteries in the controller and an additional spare set. Battery life is surprisingly good, 4-5 months on a set.

How does this remote compare to the Harmony 555 which is £52.31?

The spec looks similar - anyone know if the 555 is worth the extra £17?

Thanks

The 555 has two additional buttons, picture for selecting display size i.e, letterbox, full, stretch auto, and sound which I guess is for selecting sound type.

The 555 has a more vivid colour scheme as well.

FYI

it IS/ WAS being sold by amazon for £34.99 inc super saver (free delivery) but they have just gone out of stock so another seller is coming up as £30 plus delivery as the new default

can still buy it from amazon (on right hand side) and they will deliver at that price when the new stock comes in

Will this remote work with some logitech z5500 speakers?

Thanks

This remote will work for Most devices that use standard IR signalling and can learn from the original if needed.

Be warned it does take some getting used to though if your Not technically inclined.
I have one and I think as far as multifunction remotes go its Excellent although my housemates prefer to use the originals

Works great with the xbox360 btw :-)

InkClub.com have it for £32.94 incl delivery
#26
can you access the online database so I can check compatiblity with my products?
#27
the logitech dbase is massive, it will work plus you can also set them up by learning from the existing remote iirc
#28
Hi NO :- Quote

"2. Is there a list of devices that the remotes can control?
Unfortunately, there is not a list online that you can scroll through and check. The list would be hundreds of thousands of devices, since the Harmony remotes can control just about every IR controlled device due to the learning capabilities of the remotes. What you basically need to know is that if your devices are in the database, then chances are you won't need to learn many of the commands from the original remote. If your devices are not in the database or the commands to not function correctly, you can learn the commands from the original remote. The harmony remotes are capable of learning IR commands from original remotes, so compatibility with IR based devices should not be a problem".

The data base is expanded daily etc,as it gets its data from the many users(does mean you can get some error i would imagine). There's a forum & telephone support as well for any problems you have.

More expensive might have a few extra features(RF being one of the main ones) or have more Eye Candy, but all wotk i think basically the same?
Its a individual thing, from what i can see, which you go for.
Check some features such as Z-Wave are still viable(some features have been removed),if you require them(Diff for different models).

Cheers BOB

Mine arrived today - very nice.

Worked with my TV/VCR/Xbox & Sky quite happily.

Had to reprogram it for my Sumvision Lynx DVD player - but this was my main reason for getting this control - the Lynx's control was ugg!
