Bought this a year ago from Amazon for £37, nothing comes close to Logitechs Harmony for price and performance.
#2
Good deal, but deifnatelt worth going for the Harmony One which is currently £75 at amazon i believe

Maybe if those have the extra cash to do so, the Harmony One is cradle rechargeable and has a colour screen and is nicer built than the 555 but ultimately performs under the same software to do the same job (albeit not having the fastext colour keys) that the 555 does.

And its 2/3rds the price of this deal extra in cost!...so its kinda like saying you could get a great deal on a base model car, then state for 2/3rds more of the cost get a car that performs the same but the interior is nicer and has a few more mod cons!

Add it to your basket, go to the checkout, then type HARMONY1 as a promo code and it will come up as £75

There's a £23 Amazon UK voucher code valid to 1/2/09. Found it in London Evening Standard earlier this week and posted it here as Voucher and then Deal linked to Voucher HOWEVER as you say "can't find it" - nor can I now - the search engine here is performing even worse than the dismal performance it normally achieves.

Such a shame that the information assets here become hidden/disguised/lost because of that poor access :whistling:

You can still find the code in the VOUCHERS section - but who knows for how long - still it's only got 3 more days applicability anyway.

What are the main differences between this and the One? Is it worth spending the extra on?

And I wasnt knocking the price of the One being £75, or said that you were knockign any of the others, just keeping things relative to this deal is all including the price of this, being 2/3rds the cost of the One! :)

LOL....I hate this forum at times, you can type something and guarantee someone is going to get the wrong end of the stick, no matter how you word things! :)

For peeps (like me) that dont want to spend £75 on a Harmony One which you have found a great deal there (No matter how better, and I would be foolish to state otherwise, that ergonomically, screen wise and having a rechargeable battery, its better) It is also 1/3rd more in cost and offers nothing more in performance than a 555 (or does it, you know better than me owning three to compare), just is nicer....thats why I mention about the same thing with cars.

For those with the extra cash...the Harmony One is great, for those who want the same functionality without the luxury ergonomics and enhanced screen, the 555 is great :)

I had a 515 and replaced it with this 555. Much better build quality and controls more devices.
Yes the one is better but not better enough to warrant the extra outlay for my needs.
My 555 once programmed will turn TV on from stand by, switch BD player on, change input on TV, turn receiver on and set sound output. All at the press of one button.
Highly recommended.

These are good remotes. However, if you have a Panasonic TV, be prepared to spend a few hours on the phone to Logitech Tech support.
#16
Why not go for the lovely looking 'One for All' at Richer Sounds - only set me back £20 and is great.

Why the hell would you need 3? I thought the whole point of these remotes was so you only needed ONE REMOTE!!!

As much as i like the technology on these remotes, i still don't see the point in them for the price they are. To replace something that comes free with the tv in the first place just seems surreal to me.

Maybe when they introduce one with mobile and cordless phone functionality i will invest in one but until then i'll stick to the two free ones i got.

Do any of these support the playstation 3 freeview (playtv) and the ps3 blu-ray player?

It's frustrating having such a system with a separate HDTV remote for volume control.
#20
I bought the 1-4-All from Richer Sounds when my Sky remote and DVD remote went AWOL at about the same time. It was a good buy considering that these 'free' remote were rubbish and to replace them would have cost much more. LOL and LOL again.
#21
yeah, I had a panasonic TV and had a mare getting it setup. now I have done that, and spent probably 3 hours getting it right - *bliss*

but if you have a panasonic and are not tech savvy or have a lot of free time - don't do it.

different rooms. even better, you can have the same (Almost*) layout on each room regardless of the mix of equipment you have. which makes things much easier to operate in the dark.
thinking of getting this and shoving my 525 and 515 down to the next rooms..

*for some ridiculous reason a couple of buttons are swapped between each model within each series. and you cant take them out swap them because of the way theyre built.
#23
I have a Panasonic TV and had no problems at all getting the 555 to work.
#24
whats the difference between this one and the harmony 525?

does it work with blu ray players?

I had that one, the kameleon. Personally I prefer the harmony, it's just a nicer remote and software system, but i will agree with several people that the pc tool interface for it kinda sucks, it could be made so much simpler and more user friendly (i develop this stuff for a living so it annoys me)
#27
The 555 is a fantastic remote - nearly never bought it after reading negative things about it - yes it did take about an hour to set up to my liking but am really happy with it.
Yes it does do blu-ray players but check the logitech site for the specific model but it does not do ps3

+5 devices (15), better build quality, 2 extra buttons, different colour, higher price .. is that it?
#29
have to admit the harmony one sure looks nice
