Actually the one on the Gadget Show was the Harmony One - not the 555.

But seeing as its the same family might be just as finicky!!

Well I have ordered one judging by the customers reviews, lets face it no Universal remote control is decidely easy to set up to do the functions you want it to to replace the original remote controls, but if any true consumer reviews are to go by, by far the Gadget show have got it wrong.

Have to admit I have seen and like the look and the build quality of the Philips Prestigo remote they reviewed to be the best, but only a quick google at the reviews for it proves its a very unreliable remote.

The Logitech Harmony range time and time again get consistently good reviews both in magazines and by consumers (The 555 is also awarded What Hi-Fi 2007 Best Universal Remote) . If you are prepared to spend a bit of time with this remote programming it, I am sure it would beat any universal remote hands down for the low price Amazon are offering it for....ordered for £42.50 thanks to my HUKD Amazon voucher....heat and rep added to the OP

Anyone who has one of these remotes reading this forum care to comment on them?

what does this do? make my tea?

I know its going to be a pain to setup, but I'm sure this will be simple compared with training the wife to use it! :)

Precisely my thoughts, she still needs training though with the HDMI switcher, two HDMI inputs on the LCD, and never thought I would need a third input, but a switch box was needed and thats manual

I've had one of these for about 6 months now. Amazing remote. Takes a whilke to set up through your PC, but well worth the effort. Completely customisable. You can customise each button to operate different devices without switching e.g. you can have the number buttons controlling the TV, the volume buttons controlling the dolby receiver and the play/pause etc controlling the sky+ box. You can also programme macros into it. I have a button labeled as xbox360 (there is a lcd screen with buttons next to it) when I press it, the TV switches over to HDMI2, the dolby switches on and the 360 switches on, all with the press of one button. Cool.

Oh yeah, and you may come across a couple of reviews that critisise the battery life but I have not had a problem with this. Have only just replaced the batteries after 6 months and the remote is used daily.

Totally agree. Ive had one since xmas and love it. Still havent quite set it up fully but it saves so much time (to turn telly on I have to turn amp to right place, change to right channel and turn the digibox on - all with 1 button press now!).

Bought it at same price...

I have a 555.
The Gadget Show's experience with their Harmony One is just like the pain with the 555. The 555 has great potential and could be a great remote but is completely screwed by the programming software. Logitech have dumbed down the software to such an extent that you have to go through endless question & answer sessions to get to the function you want. It is like navigating a city centre one way system where you can see where you want to go but have to head off in the opposite direction to get there.
