Ten quid cheaper than the 525. Good spot.

I have been an owner of the 525 for quite a while now but its finally died a slow death after all the button pushing over the years.

Hopefully this will do just as good a job. I think its quite a hot deal :)

hot! ordered mine..

Owner of 2 525s here (and friend with more gizmos has a 555) and can totally recommend, especially at this price!

They are brilliant gizmos with excellent support by Logitech, although for optimum use you set them up via USB from your PC with complex sequences of codes to turn all your gizmos on in the right order and set them to the right input etc and although well wizard'ed, it can take a little fine tuning, but well worth making that effort!

Don't forget the Nectar eStores opportunity for a few pence back too!

Remember they currently have a Logitech 2 year warranty, and I had a feeling it was even longer when they first came out (though maybe not) - nothing to lose by checking with Logitech with your serial number anyway.

The worst they can do is tell you NOPE, the best is they replace it for you and you have only a brief phonecall and your time to lose :)

Logitech are pretty good, i've even heard rumours that they have replaced items beyond the warranty period. Which has just reminded me to do something...

I got one last month from Dixons at 44.99 to replace a 525 with a cracked LCD it was easy to transfer the settings with no hassle. They are also selling at £39.99 just now with a possibility of 3% Quidco. Can't understand why its £10 cheaper than 525 though.
#8
Same price at Dixons here

Also 3% cashback through Quidco

Do these work with V+ boxes (cable sometimes has a different infra red signal.

Or do I need one of those red eye things?

Yep it's bizarre - but it's been the norm for quite a while for the 555 marketplace to be more competitively priced.

Having one 525 already I wanted another, ie with the exact same key layout (for another room with new gizmos) and it took a bit of finding to blag a 525 at £39.99 (from Amazon 6 weeks ago) which was less than the 555s (which are a straight SUPERSET of the 525) at the time, but only just!

Yes - they replaced my 785 outside of the warranty period.

will this work with a sky hd box, samsung plasma and a sony surround sound- which has a dvd player built in?
#16
The lag on these is unbearable! Love the remote to bits but the lag is a real joke. Anyone got any other recommendations for a remote?

This will work with pretty much every device out there, so long as it accepts Infrared inputs. You can use the logitech website to do a compatibility check and see if your device is on there.

And if by some coincidence, your device is not on the database, as long as you have an infrared remote for that device, you can teach it the commands, and get it working anyway.

So to summarise, it will work with any device as long as the device is on the database or you have an infrared remote for it.

just to re-iterate all the comments on this post - it's a fantastic remote and i have had it now for about 3 years with no problems at all, controlling my lcd tv, projector, a/v receiver, xbox 360, etc. also, just so you know - even if your device is not on the logitech database but if you have an infrared remote for your device, then you can teach the logitech remote using the infrared receiver at the back.

mine has been used quite roughly, thrown around, dropped many times, etc etc and has still not failed on me!

Hot stuff, ordered one !

Will it replace my 6 remotes, which I have rubber banded together in sets of 3 like two handguns?

I currently have a Harmony One and a Harmony 885. I need to get another remote. Should I wait for a One or 885 to become available at a reasobable price again (£70) or go with this deal? Essentially they are all the same remote so is there a big difference in the build, button feel etc?

anyone had experiance with using one of these on XBMC software ? (HTPC)

If you want to check if their database ALREADY knows about your device then just visit
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remotes/&cl=us,en
and follow the links there for "Show me that it works with my system "

When friends found their 555 didn't quite persuade their LG Plasma to switch to the corrent AV Input consistently every time as part of one of those fantastically convenient Activities - eg "Watch a Blu-ray" (ie TV on, Amp on, Blu-ray on, TV on right input, Amp on right input, etc etc) - as the manual/LG remote didn't provide for DIRECT selection of input, only relative selection... a phone call to local support didn't achieve a solution though tried a few ideas... so they escalated it their "global tech support" and within a couple of hours (not days/weeks) a phone call from Canada (from memory) came through and a guy spent 20-30 minutes solving it by downloading customised commands (and tweaking a few other things too while we were testing the solution). Absolutely TOP notch support = why I have no hesitation in recommending.

Bit of advice please guys.

I have about 5 or 6 remotes.

I understand that I could program a button to "play Xbox" and it would switch on my TV, change the source, switch on my amp, change the source, and switch on the Xbox. But if I was already watching TV, and I wanted to switch to the Xbox, the above sequence would turn off the TV - correct?

Is there any way around this (would it be a button for Xbox from scratch, and one for Xbox with TV already on)?

The remote remembers the state of devices, so if you switch between activities that share a device then it will leave it alone and not power it off accidentally.

yes, but it will be nowhere as cool as your current setup!!:p

Hang on... not one post saying how these things are a waste of money? How you can buy AllinOnes in the Pound shop?

Are people finally realizing that if you WANT one of these, then this is bargain price?

I got rid of the lag on my 885 by changing the repeat and delay options, you can do it when setting up the remote on your PC. Less repeats, less delay makes everything much faster.
